Sharing the joy of music has been my passion since childhood. I began studying piano at the age of 4 and have been performing since the age of 6. After graduating from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto, I began teaching. I continued teaching, performing and accompanying while completing a Bachelor of Music from University of Toronto and a Masters of Music from Texas A&M, Commerce. My experience and training have allowed me to be the recipient of numerous awards in solo and duo piano competitions, including 1st place in Canada as a piano duo. Some performances include solo and duo piano, chamber music and symphony orchestras, choirs and with vocalists and instrumentalists. Being classically trained and a proficient sight reader, this has enabled me to play a variety of styles of music and accompany vocalists and instrumentalists and be able to play and teach from a lead sheet. My other experiences include being an organist, musical director and choirmaster. Renata has taught piano privately in her studios in Canada, Texas and Washington for over 30 years. She recorded 2 solo piano CDs. *** Lesson Details *** Whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced student, my goal is for everyone to come out of each lesson with confidence that you have learned something or are on your way of accomplishing what you want to work on. During the lessons, I emphasize the basics of note reading, technic, learning songs/pieces, theory and good practice habits. Depending on the age and level, a variety of fun activities, ear training, transposing, and playing songs of students' choice are incorporated into the lessons. I try to encourage the students' strengths and also focus on the things the students need to practice, depending on their level. Each student is unique and as I get to know the students, I am able to use my flexibility and musical training to develop ways to teach them. I encourage my students to participate in recitals, contests and other performance projects (making a tape for example). My goal in teaching students, is for them to learn in a positive atmosphere, for me to be able to share my enjoyment of music, and hopefully, for them to also enjoy playing. *** Studio Equipment *** home studio---main floor room, piano(kawai upright) and keyboard.

Renata has been instructing my daughter for several years now and it has been a wonderful experience. My daughter can now play just about anything she chooses to. As an instructor, Renata continually adjusts her lessons based on my daughter's interests and personality. Her calm and steady method of encouragement is a joy to be around.
