I began playing piano at age six and I received my early training from Jeanne Pennino and later studied with J. Mitzi Kolar, Krzysztof Brzuza, and Karen Follingstad. I earned my Bachelor of Music degree in Piano, Professional Studies from San Diego State University. I plan to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Piano Pedagogy and/or Music Theory in the near future.
I have been professionally teaching piano since February 2008 when MuzikAdict Piano Studio was established. I am a believer in balanced musical training. I currently reside in San Diego and keep busy teaching piano and practicing my own repertoire. I am an active member of the Music Teachers Association of California, San Diego Branch.
My 65+ students participate in various programs which include but are not limited to Certificate of Merit through the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC), Southern California Junior Bach Festival, The Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory Achievement Program, and AP Music Theory.

It's only been one lesson so far. In that lesson, she's been my first teacher to actually tell me all the things I could work on, rather than just tell me I'm doing a good job. You can tell she enjoys teaching, which made me enjoy learning. I look forward to more lessons from Rebecca.+ Read More
Very pleasant first meeting and will enjoy seeing my progression.
Nickolas enjoyed your teaching and he is learning a lot.
Rebecca has such an easy personality. My daughter leaves motivated to learn more and can't wait for next lesson.
Our daughter had a great time with Rebecca for the 18 months she took flute lessons from her. We saw her level improve very quickly and she was able to jump ahead in her school orchestra after only 2 months with Rebecca as a new flute student. Rebecca is a professional but also a lot of fun. We highly recommend her.+ Read More
Rebecca taught may daughter new techniques that helped her improve after just one lesson!
Rebecca is an amazing teacher and exudes energy and passion when teaching our daughter. She is also very patient and understanding of little children's attitude and behavior which I know can be very challenging at times. Our daughter has been learning from Rebecca for the past two years and is not only able to play but explain the music to myself and others (who, I should say, do not have any musical ability). Our daughter has a new found passion for music because of her lessons and I can't thank Rebecca enough for her help and dedication to our daughters learning.+ Read More
Rebecca is a great instructor! After a year of lessons, my 12 year old daughter (new to music lessons) she still continues to love her lessons! Rebecca is reliable and keeps lessons fun. Highly recommend!
Rebecca was very professional and has great knowledge about music. She is very attention to detail and patient at the same time. It was a pleasure and great honor to have her as my instructor.
Rebecca is a great piano instructor! Rebecca is very easy to work with, provides excellent instruction, and my child loves doing lessons with her.
Very patient and genuine.
Rebecca is a wonderful piano teacher and sweet person. Our daughter started lessons at 4 and 1/2 years old and Rebecca has been patient and caring and knows how to keep her engaged and having fun - while truly learning to read music, keep a beat and play her first songs. We've had just the best experience in every way.
Now 5, Anna enjoys going to lessons, she loves playing her songs for family and is beginning to get an appreciation for music, for learning and for what a little practice can do to improve her playing. We keep things fairly low key at home in terms of practice time since she is 4, and I want it to continue to be fun and for her to continue on with lessons as she gets older, but it amazes me what Rebecca has been able to teach her and how confident and proud she feels after her lessons.
We highly recommend Rebecca for any age!
Rebecca has a very good rapport with children, I can see my daughter improving after only a few lessons.
We had a wonderful first lesson with Rebecca! Anna is only 4, so I was interested to see if she'd take an interest in lessons and want to learn. She was excited to go, and did very well listening and participating - Rebecca was patient and spoke to her on her level and tried lots of different things to see what my daughter knew/didn't know and what she might be able to do. The lesson book she has seems very age appropriate and should make practice fun. I am excited to see how continued lessons go and Anna seems excited to go again and said she had a great time. :)+ Read More
Rebecca is an amazing piano teach
Before taking piano lessons with Rebecca, my only experience with musical instruction was through elementary and junior high.
Rebecca's training and personal dedication to music makes her an extraordinary teacher. We use the Suzuki books, which I love because that's what I used for violin and flute. She supplements those favorites with really nice adult-learning-centered books on theory. As an adult learner, this was helpful, because I could read through these brief books, but then had the terminology to look up my questions online or know what to ask in lessons.
The lessons are so fun and well organized. We work on the songs in the books (which included CDs of the songs so you can hear what the song might sound like if you practice enough) and she would help me with songs I brought in too. Rebecca is so kind, and is great with my five-year-old too.
Really, Rebecca is an excellent music instructor. Her academic background, many years of actually playing piano and singing, knowledge of the music available and books, and variety of students -- all make her a versatile teacher, capable of helping anyone learn to the play the piano in whatever style they are interested in. Plus, she is an incredible person. I look forward to piano lessons with her.
Rebecca gave my children piano lessons for several years, bi-monthly. She was very good about working with my limited budget (my wife is anti music). They really enjoyed their lessons and progressed nicely until my wife put an end to it and let her go.
In addition, Rebecca helped me with my more advanced music when she could and I appreciated this, too.
One slight criticism is that she was a little too nice, my son sometimes got out of hand during lessons.
Good luck Rebecca!
Amazing Piano Teacher!
Rebecca taught my daughter piano for over two years, and brought her from knowing nothing about piano to being able to read music. Her demeanor and personality were a perfect match for my daughter; calm and gentle, friendly, genuinely interested in getting to know her aside from simply teaching piano. Yet she also knows how to keep children on track throughout a lesson, as they can get easily distracted. She is wonderful with kids and knows how to get them interested in music. She is very flexible, and always worked with me to schedule make-up lessons when we missed a week. The skills my daughter learned with Rebecca have transferred nicely to my daughter's choir class in middle school, allowing her to learn her parts more easily. The only reason my daughter is no longer a student is because we moved from San Diego. I highly recommend Rebecca to anyone wishing to enroll their child in piano lessons!
Becca is a thoughtful and patient piano teacher who was able to take my children and address their different capabilities quite effectively. They liked having her as their teacher and enjoyed the lessons.
Although the kids, a boy and a girl, were receiving beginner lessons, at one point my oldest needed help with some AP level music theory as well, and Becca was able to help and clarify key concepts for him. We were impressed with her knowledge.
Becca was always punctual and used the lesson time focusing on the work, with very little time wasted. Whenever it was necessary, she would follow up or keep us informed by email or texts. We always felt she approached her work very diligently while remaining both pleasant and fun for the kids.
If you are considering giving your children music lessons, I would not hesitate to recommend Becca.
