About Rebecca W.

Hi, my name is Rebecca, and I look forward to meeting you! I have been teaching voice lessons and singing professionally for over 20 years. I love helping my students achieve their musical goals, while having fun making music!

I accept male students 15 and up and female students age 12 and up. I will consider younger students, but only on a case-by-case basis.

My approach to teaching is very organic. The body and voice should be natural and never pushed. I believe in helping my students increase their sense of self-awareness to better understand how their whole bodies shape the sound. I am supportive, encouraging, and relaxed. I am gentle by nature, but I am also very passionate about teaching.

I ask a lot of questions to help the students learn, and I love when my students ask me questions so they can solidify the concepts and techniques of healthy singing.

I teach both classical and musical theater vocal technique. They share many technical concepts. A student can expect to learn breath support, body preparation, body awareness, legato, beautiful round tone, vowel placement, speech level singing (for musical theater singing), etc.

In addition, I have experience working with students who are dealing with vocal injuries.

A typical 30-minute lesson includes:

5 minutes: discuss progress and identify problems arising from previous week of practice
10 minutes: warm-ups and exercises
10 minutes: repertoire (or additional exercises, if necessary)
5 minutes: identify goals and objectives for upcoming week

A typical 45-minute lesson includes:

5 minutes: discuss progress and identify problems arising from previous week of practice
15 minutes: warm-ups and exercises
20 minutes: repertoire (or additional exercises, if necessary)
5 minutes: identify goals and objectives for upcoming week

A typical 60-minute lesson includes:

5 minutes: discuss progress and identify problems arising from previous week of practice
15-20 minutes: warm-ups and exercises
20-30 minutes: repertoire (or additional exercises, if necessary)
5 minutes: identify goals and objectives for upcoming week

Students should bring the following to their lessons:

Bottled water
Pencil with eraser
Any required sheet music
A recording device for you to record your lesson so that you can listen to and practice with at home.

Rebecca focuses on what you want to learn and get out of your lessons. She is the best vocal teacher I’ve ever had. She cares for your vocal health and that’s more than anyone I’ve worked with.

Rebecca is a beautiful classically trained singer. Because of this she is wonderful at teaching vocal technique. Rebecca knows that the key to good singing in any genre is vocal health. Rebecca will take care of you and make sure that you will never hurt your self. Singing should never hurt.

I had the privilege of having Rebecca as my teacher for four years. My voice has gotten drastically better and I have her to thank for that. I had some trouble finding where to place my voice and she always provided me with great visuals on where my sound should be coming from. This helped me improve so much. She is such a sweet person and wonderful teacher. Anyone would be lucky to have her as a voice teacher!

Rebecca is an excellent teacher, in and out of the studio. She takes into account a students abilities and health and builds plans to help each individual grow. Besides being knowledgeable about singing-both the theory and the application- Rebecca makes her studio comfortable and a place to push yourself in a safe manner while receiving instruction on how to improve. Rebecca is without a doubt an amazing teacher that has taught me more than anyone else, and I look forward to every session with her.

Rebecca has been my teach for the past 2+ years. She really helped me find feet as a singer and help me improve on it as well. Being able to have someone who is willing to break it down for you and help you apply the technique and exercises to your music style of choice is WONDERFUL! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Definitely would recommend!

Mrs. Becky is a great teacher, my daughter has been taking voice lessons with Becky for a year. Her techniques for teaching my daughter has help my daughter sing naturally using her own voice. Becky is caring and and carries herself in a professional manner. Mrs. Becky helps het students have confidence in themselves. My daughter loves her and gives her an excellent review.

Rebecca is such a great vocal coach! She is a great help when it comes to breathing correctly, relaxing, and letting your voice free.

Rebecca has helped me so much already and it has only been 3 weeks. She always warms me up with great exercises that become very useful. We practice opening my mouth and letting the air and breath flow through. She has been an awesome coach!

Lessons with Becky are fun and extremely helpful.

Becky is a great teacher. She really lets the student choose what they want to work on and learn. Lessons with her can be as relaxed or as focused as the student wishes. She gives multiple ways of explaining singing techniques to ensure student comprehension, is reliable and values the student's time, and is very pleasant to be around!

One of a kind experience.

Taking lessons with Rebecca is truly a fun and educational experience. She has taught me so much from simple breathing to even things as trying not to self edit myself. She is very caring and understanding on situations that might interfere with lessons. I am glad to say I'm currently taking voice lessons with Rebecca and enjoying every minute. You won't regret your decision choosing such a wonderful teacher.

Estill Voice Training

EVT Level One: Figures for Voice™ teaches the Craft of speaking and singing. During this 3-day course, students explore 13 vocal structures that influence voice quality. Each structure produces a range of different vocal sound effects. The Figures for Voice are exercises used to develop control of each structure’s options. Participants are given the opportunity to practice their new Figure skills in small group practice sessions. Open coachings provide the opportunity for participants to work on a speech or song and to explore the Figure solutions to any artistic or technical challenge. The skills developed in Level One will help add strength, clarity and stamina to your voice! Level Two: Figure Combinations for Six Voice Qualities™ builds on the knowledge and skills from Level One by asking students to combine different Figure options to mix “recipes” for six basic voice qualities. Speech, Falsetto, Sob, Twang, Opera, and Belt are the qualities researched by Jo Estill and provide the foundation for the Estill Voice Model. This 2-day course highlights the human voice’s limitless possibilities, along with how to keep it vibrant and healthy.
