Do you want to learn how to sing the right way? Do you want to create a beautiful resonant tone with your voice? Do you want to sing in a healthy way so you can keep your voice for years and years to come? Most importantly, do you want to have fun? If so, we might be a great fit!
Hello! My name is Rebecca. I can’t wait to teach you the joy of singing! The style I teach is universal for ALL singing styles even though I am classically trained. Whatever style you are interested in, the fundamentals are the SAME and I will help you master them. I look forward to meeting you and having fun during our lessons!
To take online lessons with me, you must have access to either a keyboard/piano, a pitch pipe, a piano app, tuner or equivalent to use for practice as well as during lessons. You will also need to get a metronome or a metronome app.
Intermediate students may need to purchase “Twenty-Four Italian Songs and Arias” after voice placement is determined (i.e. Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass). Italian vowels will be better for learning to sing because we are used to speaking in English. It is much easier to sing in a language other than English because of different dialects!
Beginner: Students will start at the very beginning, a very good place to start! Students will focus on the fundamentals of music and the basics of proper singing technique. We will learn how to read music and take an indepth look at pitch and how it relates to scales, rhythm, tempo and so much more. Students will learn how to develop a healthy and proper vocal technique as well. We will learn very basic piano skills since the student must have the ability to play notes to practice on their own.
Intermediate: Students will expand on their knowledge of singing fundamentals as well as improve their current technique. We will learn repertoire which will allow us to target weaknesses in technique and improve them! Be prepared to learn numerous exercises, proper breathing technique, how to support your sound, and plenty of music to memorize. We will learn how to play vocal exercises on the piano to improve pitch accuracy.
About me: I graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 2016 with a dual Bachelor’s of Arts degree in classical vocal performance and audio recording. I primarily studied the classical voice technique which is a great basis for ALL styles of singing. I was a lead vocalist for the Bloomsburg University Jazz Ensemble for 3 years and went on tour singing throughout Italy and Switzerland at festivals such as the Montreaux Jazz Festival and Umbria Jazz Festival. I co-directed a student run A cappella group in college called “The Leading Tones” for 2 and ½ years. Today, I work as a paraprofessional at Shamokin Area School District for students with learning disabilities. In my free time, I teach lessons, produce and record original music, sing in a blues band and take jazz singing lessons. I plan to pursue a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies in 2020. I also love to read books, especially mysteries and watch TV shows on Netflix! I look forward to helping you learn how to sing while also enjoying your time!
I co-directed a student run A cappella ensemble. I started as a student and continued to teach the group post-graduation.
Patient and kind.
Rebecca is awesome! She takes time to learn about you so she can gear the lessons toward what you’re looking for! (Plus, her price is great compared to many other online teachers!) I would recommend her in a heartbeat!
Rebecca makes our lessons enjoyable. She is funny but also serious. She wants you to sing well and that’s the goal of the lessons!
We do a lot of exercises you can practice on your own. I am excited to continue lessons!
Very down to earth and friendly.
We did a lot of exercises I can practice on my own which I like. I really feel like I’m learning how to sing right for the first time in my life.
Awesome. Will continue lessons
Awesome first lesson. Will continue lessons.
Helped me figure out what I was doing wrong. Does exercises that are easy to follow that I can practice on my own. Will continue lessons
I can already hear an improvement in my voice.
Awesome first lesson. Looking forward to more
Rebecca is awesome! She really knows her stuff! :) She also took time to get to know me and that’s why I like taking lessons with her!
Didn’t want to do classical singing since I like to sing pop BUT my voice has improved so much since I started with Rebecca. I used to lose my voice after singing (which I learned is not good) but now I know how to sing the right way. Would recommend
Rebecca helped me sing higher notes by helping me breathe the right way! It took forever since I am a slow learner but Rebecca was patient and I really appreciated it. She’s friendly, funny and really knows her stuff!
Rebecca helped me to distinguish different pitches and sing difficult solfege and harmony. Great, friendly, personable teacher!
Rebecca has a great personality for teaching and always so happy. She stresses the importance of correct and safe technique for your voice so you don’t harm your voice. Glad I chose Rebecca
amazing teacher - very patient and easy to understand. i’d highly recommend rebecca to anyone looking to improve their voice.
Rebecca is super smart and friendly. I was in high school when I took private lessons with her. She helped me with my district auditions and I know I improved a lot because I was made it to regionals.
I have been a student of Rebecca's for 6 months in her private studio, and I have improved greatly. She has helped me to hear and match pitches correctly, fixed my horrible breathing habits and opened up my tone. I didn't have any experience reading music, and I now know how to read rhythms and notes, and sing in time with my metronome! Plus she is just a sweetheart. Highly, highly recommended. :)+ Read More
