For Rebecca Barritt, the only constant in life has been a passion for music. She began writing songs when she was 6 years old and never stopped, most recently fronting the Victoria-based band Phantom Thieves. As a songwriter, Rebecca is fiercely honest and defiantly vulnerable – never shying away from the beauty, complexities, and hidden fears that come with being alive. Rebecca has been offering music lessons since 2010. Her warm passion for music – and for people – shines through in her work with her students. She connects with each student to discover their reasons for wanting to learn music. Whether they are beginning with the basics or reaching for new levels of artistry, Rebecca works to help students find their way towards the soulfulness and self-expression that music promises at its best.

i’ve taken lessons with rebecca for 3 1/2 years now and it’s been a very positive experience for me. rebecca is very kind and patient, knowledgeable and talented. i’m older than her average student but i’ve seen her work with a wide range of students and instruments. i would recommend her to anyone interested in improving their musical skills.

Rebecca is literally the best. She is personalable and friendly and super easy to get along with. I was super nervous about sharing something so personal and intimate as a song I had written from my heart with an ACTUAL professional. But Rebecca was exactly that. A professional. It turns out Rebecca's amazing talents and skills as singer, a musician, and a song writer, are matched only by her ability to share her love and insight with other lovers of music such as myself. I felt almost immediately at ease and confident with her, and after only a few sessions was absolutely amazed how much I had learned about singing, song writing, and, if I'm being perfectly honest, myself; both as a musician and an artist. I was referred to Rebecca from friends, whose children she taught, and they and their parents both absolutely adored her. As a more *ahem* mature student, I was expecting some tips on theory and technique, and figured I'd just try, having strummed and picked away in hiding for many years. I have to say I am absolutely blown away with how much I've learned, and how easy it was with Rebecca's guidance and tutelage. If you love music and want to make your own, Rebecca is who you need to go see.

I teach private and group lessons out of my own music room and I travel to student's homes for music lessons as well. I teach violin, piano, guitar, voice, songwriting and theory in various styles. I focus my teaching style to suite the needs of the student.
