Overview

I completed musical studies at the Conservatory of Music of San Juan, Puerto Rico and graduated MAGNA CUM LAUDE, with Majors in Musical Education and as a Performing Artist.
I am a qualified bilingual Music Instructor.
I have performed as a guitarist with several orchestras, musical groups, bands and as classical guitar soloist I have given numerous recitals and concerts.
I have worked as a Music Educator at the Social & Pedagogic Academic Institutes teaching pedagogic & didactic principles to teachers and at the same time I have been teaching classical and popular guitar at all levels and ages at several other music schools.
I wrote a guitar method "MELODIC GUITAR" for beginners from 7 years of age and up, and this method has been translated from Papiamentu into the English and Spanish languages.
Although my music background is classical, I play and teach popular music, which I love.
Just to mention a few guitarists who appeal to me: Carlos Santana, George Benson, Paco de Lucia, Julian Bream.
I also teach electrical and acoustic guitar, bass-guitar, piano/keyboard, ukulele, Venezuelan & PR cuatro, songwriting and music theory.
Music is an International language; a way to express inner feelings!
And Teaching it, is my passion!

I would highly recommend Mr. Lasten as a music instructor to anyone who wants to learn music. He is a wonderful teacher who teaches all the minute things that can help you become a better musician. I have been contemplating learning music for a long time but was initially hesitant due to my work pressure. I am glad I chose Mr. Lasten as a teacher. He is patient with me and motivates me a lot when I practice during our guitar session. I have found him to be a very pleasing personality and I really look forward to continue learning from him.

We are so delighted with our experience with Remi. Our son began lessons when he was a fresh 6 year old. Remi had so much patience and ability to keep him focused on the keys. The progress over the last 18 months has been remarkable. My son is much more confident and no longer prone to dwell on small missteps, He plays right through them and then works to correct them. This is all due to His wonderful teacher. As an aside, it's awesome when my son really plays well and Remi picks up his guitar and accompanies the piano like a real "jam session"

Fantastic first lesson - I was speaking in sentences by the end of our 45 mins - albeit very simple ones - but nevertheless - I am impressed and look forward to getting closer to conversational Dutch. Top marks :-)

At first, I doubted that I could do a piano lesson online but Mr. Raymond erased all my doubt on the very first section with him. He is really good at what he does. I asked him a question and he answered it without any confusion. From his answers, I know he is really knowledgable in music generally, and piano specifically. He is friendly and laid-back but he will make sure you perfectly play your pieces. Take him and you will have no regret!

Remi's great! I was a little unsure at first, being a grown woman taking up a new hobby, but he set me at ease and has challenged me appropriately. He had me figured out pretty quickly, too; and he adapted lessons to my personality, incoming skill set, and taste. He's also a delight to be around, so lessons are fun.

Remi has been a great teacher - very patient, supportive. Also has a lot of good "tricks" to help you through challenging parts of learning an instrument. I have been playing violin for years now, so I have had quite a bit of experience with music instructors, and I feel I picked an extraordinary teacher to help me with the ukulele. (Also, I have a very irregular schedule and Remi has been flexible with reschedules, which I greatly appreciate.) Thanks Remi!

I have been taking organ lessons from Mr. Raymond L. for a few months now. He has been nothing but friendly and patient. He is very understanding of difficult schedules, and is very accommodating when I need to change my scheduled lesson.

Raymond L. is also an excellent teacher, requiring perfection on the practiced piece before he will allow you to move on. I appreciate this, seeing that slipshod foundations will only harm me later on. Apart from the technical books, he also assigns a variety of pieces to practice on - allowing for the practice of the different techniques, as well as keeping things fresh and interesting.

Remi fun and really well organized and puts so many of the exercises in the context of what other answers I've given. I need to be a bit more systematic in the lessons though. For example, I vaguely recall the reflexive but I'd rather have it explained to me than suddenly having part of it in a sentence to memorize. I've been rushing. Maybe we should slow down a bit so I can get more practice in rather than trying to learn so many new things all at once. I mostly want to get comfortable speaking.
