I have been playing/writing music for the last 12 years. I am a very passionate, positive, and fun person; and my love for music shows in my lessons. Music is more than a hobby to me; it is truly my life, and I love sharing it with others.
The very moment I learned to read music, I started creating music of my own. I enjoyed writing music so much that I decided (while in middle school!) that music was going to be my future, my career, my life! I learned to play guitar and started touring around the South-East, playing my songs for anyone and everyone. During this time I also started teaching private guitar lessons in music stores, for music companies, and at my home studio. This is where I developed my love for sharing the joy of music with others! Eventually, I decided to get serious about my career and I enrolled as a music student at Reinhardt University. In May of 2013, I graduated with a degree in Music Education (instrumental focus in guitar, minor in piano, and additional studies in double bass).
These days, I am employed as an adjunct guitar/bass instructor at Reinhardt University. I and am additionally working on a Masters degree in Music Composition (expected graduation May 2015). I have taught over 100 private students, and I use the experience that I have gathered over the years to better teach my lessons. I spend the majority of my spare time writing new compositions, and in April 2012, I had my first piece commissioned and premiered by the Reinhardt Symphonic Winds! I am also an active performer, playing acoustic and full band shows regularly (over 100 performances in 2014).
*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons with me will be fun and relaxed, yet challenging! I know that sometimes, the fundamentals of music are not always the most exciting things to learn about. So, I strive to make lessons entertaining and musical from the very beginning! I will have you playing songs ASAP. I know exactly what steps to take to have you playing like a pro in the fastest time possible. I want to set you up for success, and I will give you the supplies to succeed (and have fun while doing it!). I drive my students to practice as much as possible; simply because daily practice at home is the best way to unlock your true potential.
My lessons are a custom fit for each individual. There is no ONE way that everyone learns, and that is why I take the time to create lesson plans that are tailored to each student. Obviously, there are basics that every students needs to know, but beyond that, your personal musical goals will be at the forefront of your lessons with me! I have some students who love music theory, ones who enjoy improvisation (creating music on the fly), and others who simply love to sing songs while strumming guitar or playing the piano. Whatever your passion, I will help you reach your goals and hopefully inspire you to create additional musical goals!
