Learn exercises, scales and songs, based on what you know and what you want to play!

Hi! I'm Rachel! I have a Bachelor's in Music Education from CSULA where I was taught scales and to play from Alfred's Group Piano for Adults book 1. I also completed one year of the Masters in Commercial Music program (also from CSULA) where I took a Jazz, Pop, and Rock Piano course that focused on advanced exercises and popular songs from different genres. I learned some really fun songs and tricks from this class that I'd love to share with you! At Encore School of Music, I subbed for quite a few piano students. The students and I would get to know each other a bit, talk about their curriculum and what their teacher wanted us to focus on, the student would play the piece and I would give them feedback. 9 out of 10 times it was rhythm they struggled with. I love teaching rhythm! I have an abundance of music theory sheets that are meant for kids! I even have my own sheets I made to make it easier! These work for both adults and kids! I can teach you Beginning Piano from Level 1a & up (according to the Alfred's books) or we can take a different approach and learn what you want when you want it! I have done both methods before. Feel free to reach out and ask me any questions you may have! I will do my best to answer you as quickly and as honestly as possible. Thank you for your time! :)

Hi there! I’m Ms. Rachel! I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from CSULA, and I’m currently working on a Masters in Commercial Music from CSULA as well. I’ve been teaching beginning piano and voice since January 2017. Now, I also teach the basics of music theory, and songwriting too! I sing and teach all styles, including but not limited to pop, rock, country, jazz, R&B, blues, musical theater, classical singing, and opera. I value getting to know you and what you want to learn. Most importantly, I value your health -mentally, emotionally, physically, vocally, etc.. I’m gentle and patient. I’ve worked with many kinds of students from cautious 4 year olds to shy middle schoolers to ambitious high schoolers to adults who have different aspirations to seniors who always wanted to learn music, etc.. I’m happy to teach you about how music works and how music can work for you! If you have any questions, such as availability, please let me know! Have a wonderful day! ☺️
