Learn painting and drawing technique as well as art history with a professional artist and teacher

I have been a practicing artist for over 15 years, and have 10+ years of teaching experience in many different settings. I have taught k-8 art classes in Boston Public Schools for 9 years, and have taught adults and teens in museum and arts non profit settings for 5 years. I have my BFA in painting and education and an MFA in 2d interdisciplinary fine arts from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. This fall I will be teaching Contemporary Art Theory at Wentworth Institute of Technology. My own art practice consists of painting, drawing and printmaking. I am an avid museum and gallery goer and love to share my skills and knowledge with others of any age! Art making serves as a wonderful way to challenge one's self, open the mind and discover creative passion. Art making can be therapeutic and brings a sense of joy and confidence to each student. I love being a facilitator in the process of my students finding their own visual language and style as they develop technique and learn about the history of art forms as well as contemporary applications. Art making is a way to get to know yourself more deeply, as well as connecting to culture in a way that brings new meaning to life. I bring a sense of play, humor and experimentation to each of my students. Although there are techniques and traditions that I love to share, there is no one way to be an artist!
