I volunteered as the flute specialist at ORMS for the beginning flutists ages 9-11. During multiple group lessons per day, I worked on building mastery for the young players at the early stages of their flute playing journey.

I have taught private students of all age groups (11-retired adult) and levels (very beginner-advanced high school players). I focus on positivity, building mastery, and being musical in my lessons.

I volunteered at MPES to teach the beginning flutists (ages 9-11), focusing on building up their technical skills and sound production capabilities.

I taught group lessons to flutists in middle school and high school, and we worked on the music they were playing for the New Hampshire Youth Band. I worked with the flutists on technique, sound production, playing musically, and playing within an ensemble.

Hello! My name is Rachel, and I have been playing flute for 12 years. I am almost finished with my music education degree at the University of New Hampshire, where I was principal chair for the 2019-2020 season in their prestigious Wind Symphony. I believe that there is no one way to teach a student. I do not set expectations about what a student should or should not be able to do at any given moment; I instead meet every student where they are, figure out how best to help that student achieve what they want to achieve, and help them to grow as a player with guidance and positivity. I feel as if my strengths lie in teaching multiple concrete ways to improve technique, tone, and musicality, and each method is catered to each individual student. I teach with the methods of Marcel Moyse in mind, as he taught my previous teacher, Peggy Vagts.

Hello! My name is Rachel, and I just finished my junior year at the University of New Hampshire, studying music education. I have been playing the flute for 12 years, and I have been teaching both group and private flute lessons since 2016. I have started beginner players on their flute journey, I have  taught advanced high school players getting ready for a music career in college, and everything in between! My teaching style focuses on making beautiful music, enjoying the learning process, and building a trusting and compassionate relationship with every student.

I have been taking flute lessons with Rachel for about two years now, both up at the University of New Hampshire and on line now since March. Rachel is a patient, very knowledgeable, kind person who has been an incredible teacher! Her knowledge about the flute and music has opened up a whole new musical world for me. I would highly recommend her to new students, people returning to the flute after decades away (like me), and established players. She is the best.
