Hi there! I am a 24 year old music teacher available to teach lessons to all ages in voice, guitar, piano, bass, songwriting or music theory. I've been studying music for over a decade, from Texas to the UK to New York City. I was a top high school vocalist in Texas, winning multiple titles and awards in classical voice and going on to perform in musical theatre productions and popular music groups in Austin and Liverpool, England, where I received my BA Music from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts under Sir Paul McCartney. After moving to NYC in 2016, I began to focus on teaching private lessons in the above subjects. As of earlier this year, I made the move to teaching music in a private school. My classes range from instrumental performance to advanced music theory to recording arts. I am familiar with and can tutor to DOE standards. My background in both teaching, writing and performing gives me a diverse and varied approach to teaching music, with an emphasis on learning technique/theory and its application to "real world" music situations. My students receive a mix of traditional technique and theory, but also get to explore the music they enjoy listening to. I am of the firm belief that music comes easiest when a student loves what they're doing. Blending technique and theory with their genuine music interests has proven to be a successful approach for many of my students. One of my specialties that sets me apart from other teachers is that I mix and match instrumental/voice/theory lessons to YOUR liking. If you want to learn how to play chords on guitar but also want to work on your voice, we can make that happen. I am proud to say that after teaching for 3 years in the city, I now have students going on to attend performing arts high schools within the city, as well as music programs in colleges nationwide.

We love Rachel in our house. She's approachable and kind - definitely makes our (often shy) daughter feel comfortable in lessons. At the same time, she really has taught Gina a lot and we're thrilled with her progress, both personally and vocally. Can't recommend enough!!

Rachel's teaching style is fun and flexible, but real if she needs to be. She's taught me how to control my voice and break down difficult songs into manageable sections. I would (and have) recommend her to my friends.
