I go to the University of Georgia for Double Bass Performance. I've spent about 11 years learning and sharing everything I can about this wonderfully complex instrument. So many genres of music can be played on the double bass, and once you add my secondary instrument, the bass guitar, you're a necessary part of about every band imaginable! In addition to my classical training in symphonies, orchestras, chamber groups, concert bands, and solo bass, I have delved deeply into jazz. I've played in both big bands and combos, in school and for gigs. I also play in several local bands, where I've broadened my horizons, playing funk, jam, bluegrass, folk, rock, pop, punk, and more. I love all kinds of music! Beyond my versatile knowledge of bass, I am versed in guitar, piano, drums, music theory/ear training, composition, and jazz theory. I love to integrate a little bit of all these disciplines into my lessons, because learning anything about music makes us better musicians all around. Teaching experience includes assistant teaching orchestra classes at local middle schools and high schools, ongoing freelance private lessons, and my current employment at the Oconee Music School. I strive to make lessons enjoyable and will teach whatever a student is interested in - I probably have played it before!

I was nervous to start and Quentin quickly put me at ease as a student. I am an adult learner who can read music and has basic understanding of piano and wanted to move to the next level. He asked the right questions and shaped lessons and practice time which have proven extremely helpful. I look forward to more lessons and can easily recommend his lessons.
Quentin was very knowledgeable, flexible and creative. He was the ideal teacher for me as a beginner.
Quentin has an easy going manner that makes my middle school student want to learn from him. My son is working on improving his technique and Quentin was able to assess an appropriate level of instruction.
