I am a Master's student in Public Health, studying Epidemiology and Global Health at Columbia University in the City of New York. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Cell Biology and Neuroscience and Public Health from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. I am passionate about advocating for other people and helping them in any way I can, whether it is through community service, tutoring, or volunteering. I have been dedicated to this cause since I began my first tutoring job in high school as a Mathematics tutor at Kumon Learning Center. During my experiences, I began to love working with children in helping to mold their future educational experiences. I strongly value education in my life and believe every student should receive the proper education to be successful in their futures. Foundational experiences in elementary, middle, and high school are the most essential aspects that need to be addressed accurately. As a science student, I am well versed in the many different subjects that fall under that umbrella, but I have also excelled in Mathematics throughout my childhood and college years. In Public Health, as well as Physics and Chemistry, Mathematics is important. Statistics and Calculus are two important subjects of which I took the AP courses for in high school. In all of these areas, the foundational knowledge is most important in order to build on to that information for future learning. Last year, I participated in an AmeriCorps program in which I served as a mentor to children in inner city schools to help with academics, social, and emotional learning. Keeping my students in mind, I adopted a variety of ways to teach them in order for the information to be most apprehended. My experiences have helped me become a more efficient educator who has certain tools and skills to help others.
