I have been living, working, and playing music in Nashville since 2008, and graduated from Belmont University with a Bachelor's Degree in Commercial Music. In addition to guitar lessons and theory tutoring, I also offer ear-training (sometimes known as aural skills). Having started out as a folk/blues player with no background in theory and then going on to study music at the university level, I approach private teaching seeking to balance the two worlds, while keeping in mind that love for what you do is the ultimate motivator. I therefore constantly do my best to assess each student's waxing or waning interest in the current material.
*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons tend to be laid-back, and include some discussion, instruction, review, and feedback. However, if there is one consistent element that all my lessons share, it's exposure. One goal will always be to leave the student with some music they've never heard before. Constant discovery is a surefire way to keep the love for music alive and healthy, and can even rekindle it.
Instructional and study materials will be based on subjects/techniques being taught, and could include The Real Book, materials from my own instructors (past and present), and any textbooks I've acquired while in music school.
