I have been a professional guitar instructor for over 30 years. I have taught over 1,000 people to play the guitar. I believe you have to have FUN when you take guitar lessons. To that end, when a student has the basics of chord structure, scales and guitar theory, as quickly as possible they play songs THEY want to play. I figure songs out by ear, write down the chords for the student, and show them EXACTLY how the song is played on guitar. I feel this keeps people interested in guitar lessons because they are learning songs THEY want to learn.
