I was born in Laos but raised here in San Diego, California and have been here ever since. As a kid, I was always surrounded by music. Being the youngest son in the family, I have 8 other siblings and 6 of them were part-time musicians. I grew up listening to the Stones, the Beatles, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Journey, Van Halen, Queen and other great bands at that time. I learned to play the violin at a young age as well as learning note readings and song writings. One of my violin instructors was a professional violinist from the early San Diego Pops Orchestra and Wind band. Besides playing the violin, I also learned other musical instruments such as the guitar (my main instrument at the moment), the keyboard, and a little of the drums during my High school years. I advanced my musical knowledge from private lessons, playing with other musicians, learning different musical styles, and just a lot of practice, practice, and practice.
In college I studied Music Theory, Basic Musicianship, and 3 years of piano, Voice, Classical Guitars, Music History, and Music Performance. Although I don’t have a musical degree, I do however have an MBA. That doesn’t mean I don’t have a passion for music. I always do love learning and performing music. I just didn’t get the opportunity to study it more in school.
I would like to continue to develop my teaching skills while creating a challenging and fun learning environment for all students.
I am very qualified and would be an asset because of my years of experiences as a guitar instructor and a performing musician. I have worked with students of all ages to develop and meet their needs.
*** Lesson Details ***
I enjoyed tutoring students and helping them build confidence in their ability to achieve, both musically and socially. My lessons can be done in my private studio or in the privacy of your home. I like to tailor my lessons to each student in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. My program for beginners focuses on chords, strumming, fundamental exercises, and bring in a little music theory. That way, it would help you to know how songs work. I strive to keep the lessons enjoyable and interesting while aiming for a high standard of education.
I also have extensive experience in songwriting, singing, music recordings, live performances, and band dynamics. I can offer some advice if needed.
*** Studio Equipment ***
*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide music stands, guitar picks if needed, line music sheets. Each student must have their own guitar and the willingness to learn.
*** Specialties ***
My styles of specializations on the guitar are classical or acoustic, rock, metal, country, folk, and a little blues.
