At a very young age I discovered my passion for music. As a child I was involved in numerous state choirs, prestigious orchestras, and symphonies. In college, I studied piano performance, music composition, and played violin in the Western Washington University Symphony. Throughout my music education I was instructed by some of the greatest teachers and conductors in the PNW, all of whom used different teaching styles and techniques. I've taught both piano and violin for 6 years and incorporate what I've learned to personalize lessons for each student.
In my experience, people learn best when they enjoy the music they're learning and become aware of their progress and accomplishments. I encourage my students to be patient when learning a difficult piece or gaining new skills. Like anythings progress takes a little time and hard work, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun along the way!
I've composed in several mediums including the documentary Fragile Waters, theater productions, youtube jingles, and upcoming student films.
I've taught a diverse age range in students, students with special needs, classical styles, pop/modern styles, and students in varying degrees of experience

Patient and caring instructor! Allows you to choose what you want to play instead of choosing music for you. I chose a composition by Hayao Miyazaki, as I always loved his music. Showed me websites I could use to support my learning, as well as provided relevant assignments. Taught me about musicality, rather than just playing the notes. Helped me with reading spacing between notes as intervals rather than looking at the notes themselves which was very helpful+ Read More
