Teaching and making music is my greatest passion. Coming from a family of musicians, music was an inevitable part of my life. I began my training at the age of seven. Growing up, I performed with several youth orchestras, was concertmaster of my school orchestras, was a featured soloist on several occasions, and was the recipient of many prizes and awards from various music competitions. I had the privilege of studying with some incredible teachers, who inspired me to make teaching and performing my profession. I received my undergrad in Violin Performance from Cal State Northridge (CSUN) in 2007. I also hold a music teaching credential from CSUN. As a professional violinist, I have performed with top groups in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. I have performed in venues such as the Disney Concert Hall, the Alex Theatre, the Shrine Auditorium, the Million Dollar Theatre, the Greek Theatre and recently at the Cosmos Club and the Turkish Embassy in our nation's capitol. I had the privilege of playing in master classes with renown violinists including Abram Shtern, Sidney Weiss, and Robert Lipsett. I have been teaching violin for about nine years. I have also taught music at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. My students have received superior awards from various music festivals. I currently teach K-8th grade general, vocal, and instrumental music in Santa Paula, CA. Being able to teach music is the most rewarding thing for me. I absolutely love what I do! When I decided to become a teacher, I promised myself that I would be the best teacher that I could possibly be, and would make sure that my lessons were fun, enjoyable, and beneficial to the student at the same time. I always maintain a positive and nurturing atmosphere during lessons. I motivate and inspire my students to do their best and I have high expectations of all of them. I teach my students the practicing tools and habits that are crucial in order to grow and improve as a violinist. Let us begin a wonderful musical journey by playing the “King of Instruments”, the violin! *** Lesson Details *** I have gained a great wealth of knowledge and experience from working with incredible teachers over the years. I use techniques and methods that I have learned in order to tailor lessons to every student's need. For beginners, I use the “All for Strings” method book, “A Tune a Day” scale book, and the first 3 volumes of Suzuki. I work on proper technique, note reading, musicianship, ear training, and useful practicing habits with my students. We also talk about composers, different eras and genres of music, and encourage my students to listen to recordings and watch videos of some of the great violinist from the past and present. Practicing on a regular basis is the key in achieving great things with the violin. After finishing the first volume of Suzuki and learning most of our scales, we will begin with our first concerto and will move on to bigger and greater things. I will meet you at the level that you are at, and will work with you in reaching your highest potential. *** Studio Equipment *** Den *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide a music stand if necessary. Students need to provide their own violin and music. *** Specialties *** I am classically trained. I have had exceptional teachers over the years and I have learned different teaching styles and methods that I utilize for my own teaching. I try to tailor my teaching to every student's individual needs. I use traditional method books and teach the age and skill appropriate repertoire to my violin students.
