Lesson Details

Bass Guitar

Levels Taught:
Beginner, Intermediate
Bass guitar can be a lonely instrument to practice on your own. I use instruction books that come with a CD to play along with to simulate real playing with a drummer and band instruments. This prepares a student to learn songs of their choice and be able to perform with others.

*** Specialties ***

I teach all styles and all ages but my specialty is in electric rock music and applied music theory as in guitar soloing and improvisation as well as song crafting. I can teach a student any song requested by looking it up on you tube if you don't have it and immediately transcribe it for you! I also have an extensive library of songs already charted and copied to hand out.

Also, since all teachers are not equal, what separates me from others who give lessons is that I have done extensive training in Teaching and Study Skills. My lessons are very understandable and properly arranged to learn in an organized fashion. So my students progress very well, really learn music and enjoy the lessons

Pete is the best instructor that I have ever had. He is the only person I ever had that was able to explain things in a way that I could understand. I have taken lessons from other people and was not able to learn anything.

Peter is patient and has a good knowledge of music. He also has a great personality. He is easy to work with, and I'll miss him when our lessons are finished.

Pete is an excellent and gifted teacher. He is kind, compassionate, hilarious, and deeply aware of what it takes to transmit guitar knowledge. I greatly enjoyed my lessons with him and give my highest recommendation of him to those seeking lessons. Too bad I moved out-of-state!, or I'd still be with him.

It was a first lesson, so a bit hard to rate. Peter is personable and clearly an excellent guitar player. He helped me with several fingerings and a riff. He is going to work up a plan with exercises, etc., for our next lesson. That will give me a better sense of things

I've been around my whole life. My father was a musician, I was a musician and both my sons play guitar. I seen a lot of guitar players some good but very few really talented. Pete is by far one of the most talented I've known. Not only is Pete a gifted guitarist, but a very knowledgeable one technically.
Not only is Pete a very talented guitarist and technician, but Pete has the unique ability to teach as well. Not just to teach guitar like many instructors, but to make it fun and interesting as well. This ability to so talented and to be able to teach as well is a very rare gift. The best!!

I am a 47 year old man that picked up guitar with no musical experience at the age of 45. I have been going to lessons weekly with Pete for almost three years. I look forward to the lessons and I like them not only because I am progressing and seeing improvement but also because I think Pete is a great guy and I enjoy the discussion and back and forth banter that rounds out the lesson. Pete is following a course of instruction with me that uses Hal Leonard's books so you are building skills in a reasonable and complete way. Pete is clearly a talented guitarist and can pick up and help you with about any song you bring in or mention in class to supplement the book practice and to keep guitar interesting. Finally, when I was taking lessons at a local music store before I started with Pete, the instructor and I were shoved into what felt like a small hot closet for the lesson. I like going to Pete's house much better because his practice room is large and comfortable and he actually manages the climate to be comfortable for the student.
