Patrick M. is available for online lessons worldwide! Patrick has been playing violin and mandolin for over 25 years and has taught music since 2008. The International Bluegrass Music Association named Patrick "Fiddle Player of the Year" for 2017, one of the music industry’s highest honors. He teaches all experience levels from beginner to intermediate and advanced, performs all over the world, and records for major record labels.
Although trained in standard teaching methods, Patrick developed his own method of teaching to positively enhance the student’s strength, dexterity, ear-training, memorization and techniques. His goal as a teacher is specifically designed to help you achieve your goals as an artist and a musician.
Patrick also hosts student showcases/charity benefits like “Christmas from Ireland in Maryland,” where his students are able to get on stage and show off their new talent.
Patrick is an expert transcriber for fiddle and mandolin and masters 5 line staff and tablature, hand-crafted exercises, and deconstructions to better enhance the students learning.
Artists and genres that Patrick has experience with range from Dailey & Vincent, Ricky Skaggs, Del McCoury, Audie Blaylock, John McCutheon, Joe Martin, Gerald Cleaver, Ellery Eskelin, Kenny Baker, Bill Monroe.
Patrick attended Towson University, Baltimore where his degree is in Jazz and Classical performance. He is constantly continuing his education with music theory courses, and performance experience with the best musicians in the world.
There are no limits! Patrick’s students advance quickly and some have released albums, and won awards for their music.
Lessons are scheduled to best fit to the student’s schedule when possible.
Students receive complimentary audio lessons and transcriptions of songs upon their first or second session. Patrick is a very patient instructor and understands that students learn at a different pace, after all everyone is an individual!
Moved to Nashville, TN in January to become the full-time fiddler for the group, Dailey & Vincent

I learned some things I’d never been taught before, ways to describe sound and pitch that resonated in a new way. I look forward to practicing!
He has been an amazing teacher! The online lessons are very flexible.I have enjoyed it SO MUCH and learned tons!!!
We weren't sure what to expect, but Patrick was fantastic! We had some technical glitches and had to do the lesson via FaceTime, but he was more than gracious and gave our daughter a lot to work on in the coming week, which is what we were hoping for. We look forward to her continued progression under Patrick's tutelage. Five stars!+ Read More
Dude is the 2017 Bluegrass Fiddle Player of the year and he loves to teach. What more do you need to know1
It's so darn fun!!! Patrick breaks down techniques and the necessary abilities of good fiddle playing into bite size bits and creates fun exercises to learn them. To quote Patrick," Practice so darn much!."
Patrick is an amazing teacher. He expertly explains the finer details of fiddle playing in traditional styles. Patrick has been great detailing lessons to my needs. Filling in the holes in my fiddle game and teaching me how to teach myself. It's also been really fun learning to be not only a better fiddler, but an overall better musician. Thanks Dude.+ Read More
