I specialize in teaching traditional Irish music played on uilleann pipes, whistle, flute and bodhran, the Irish frame drum. I also teach blues, rock & folk styles on acoustic and electric guitar. I have also begun teaching ukulele... it's so much fun! :-)
I have been teaching music for over 25 years starting in Ireland and now at my home in Los Angeles.
I have toured and recorded extensively with numerous bands and as a solo artist.
I teach at Irish traditional music events all over the U.S. called tionol. Some examples are The North East Tionol (held annually in the Catskills), The Great Northern Irish Uilleann Pipers Tionol (held annually in the Twin Cities), Southern California Tionol (held annually in San Juan Capistrano).
I also teach music through the Music Center of Los Angeles via a group called A Gaelic Gathering. We perform at schools and at the Disney Hall teaching Irish music, dance and culture.
I was honored with this award in Spring of 2015 to highlight my contribution to Irish culture and community in Los Angeles County.

I needed help with a tune I was performing on Low D whistle for a friend's birthday party. Pat was extremely helpful with ornamentation for the tune and gave me some great tips on playing my low whistle as I am fairly new to the instrument. I hope to return for more lessons soon.+ Read More
great lessons Patrick. I have learned a couple of new tunes...very quickly and some great regulator techniques....Thank you
I've taken both Skype and in-person lessons from Patrick. First he is an astounding piper; second he is an excellent teacher. Well worth the time and expense.
Patrick is a very accomplished piper, and a very helpful and patient teacher. He's good company too.
Been taking lessons from Pat over the years (2003) , both in person and on-line. Great instructor, patient and goes over the bits that I have difficulty with.
I have been taking lessons with Pat for about a year now. I started with Irish Tin Whistle lessons in LA at Pat's house but I then moved to San Francisco where I continue with lessons via Skype. I have had some teachers in the past but Pat is by far the best teacher I have come to work with. I recently picked up the uilleann pipes and Pat has been instrumental to my advancement in understanding and playing of this instrument.
He is a very professional and approachable teacher. He is very flexible and accommodating with scheduling lesson times. What is very important to myself is how Pat is always looking to improve the my technique and is very encouraging, which keeps me wanting to learn more and more.
I would highly recommend Pat as a teacher. He is the best out there in my experience.
Patrick has been teaching my son for a couple years now. He is excellent! My son kept having problems with his pipes and Patrick was able to fix those problems within the first couple lessons. We are very pleased with Patrick and feel blessed to have him as my sons teacher. He is very patient and kind with my son who is very introverted. I would highly recommend Patrick for lessons.+ Read More
