I'll never forget the first time I received my very own guitar. It was a red Fender Squier stratocaster and I was just 13 years old. I remember plugging into my little amp and trying it out. I knew nothing about guitar, all I knew was I wanted to sound like Jimi Hendrix. I think it was probably day 3 when I had a breakdown and ran downstairs to my mother sobbing because I didn't think I'd ever be able to play guitar and that I made a mistake. But there's a lesson here, potential student. Guitar is HARD. Learning how to play a guitar takes a lot of patience, time, repetition and most importantly, the right attitude. 15 years later and here I am, teaching others how to play. I've been through the learning process and I know how frustrating music can be. But it's also incredibly fun and there aren't enough instructors out there that make it that way. If you want to play anything from screaming, roaring blues licks to melodic Pink Floyd tonal adventures I can help get you there the right way. If you just want to learn how to play a couple chords, not a problem. When I was 13, I took for granted the importance of a teacher and I learned things based on short-term, little wins (learning that new Green Day song for a show). I never actually took the time to learn how to truly play the guitar and understand the WHY or to hone fundamental skills, spot bad posture and technique, or explain how songs are melodies are created. When I was 23, I picked up the guitar again (after putting it all throughout college and late high school), and completely relearned how to play as a mature adult. I took the hard time to relearn techniques, understand theory, break free from bad habits and I've become a much, much better guitarist as a result. I understand what it's like to WANT to sound like the John Mayers of the world and what it's like to lack patience. But there are ways around this and it's all about how you teach. Every young kid picks up the guitar because they want to sound like SOMEONE. But there's a path to getting there and there aren't enough guitar teachers that know how to communicate that and make it fun for their subjects. The most important parts of understanding guitar fundamentals are completely top of mind for me and I believe one of my biggest strengths as an individual is turning complex concepts into bite-sized, relatable things. I'm an entrepreneur that has started my own business and this is what I do because I'm passionate about music.

Pat is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the guitar as an instrument so his lessons really resonate more than any other lessons I’ve had. You really feel like you have a comprehensive understanding of the how’s and why’s of everything he teaches you. In addition, Pat is just a super cool guy and makes the lessons very enjoyable. Would strongly recommend Pat to anyone!
