Overview

Hello! My name is Parvaneh and I am a voice and piano teacher with over 20 years of classical music study. I grew up in the Portland area and studied piano for 10 years before focusing on vocal arts full-time. At 18, I moved to California to study vocal performance at UC Santa Barbara, earning my Bachelor of Music degree with honors. I excelled in ear training and music theory while at UCSB and performed in numerous operas and choirs, including as the alto section leader of the Santa Barbara Choral Society. After graduating college, I decided to pursue other interests professionally, but have maintained my status as a professional vocalist with jobs as a paid section leader at several churches. Currently, I am the alto section leader at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Portland.

I believe in nurturing the individuality in each student and encouraging healthy vocal technique. My areas of expertise include: diction/translation, Alexander Technique, ear training and theory.

It was a new experience and looking forward to her guidance and taking her direction. She seemed to have some good ideas for my development. We will be taking it slow at first.
