    About Oswaldo C.

I am a vocalist and music teacher by trade. I got my start in music when I was in high school; I became a member of the Brentwood High School Choir in Brentwood, NY. I also was part of the Brentwood High School Musical Theatre program for three years in a row with playing a lead part in "Pippin," "Godspell," and "Anything Goes." I received awards for Most Outstanding Choir Student and Leadership-Scholarship awards in the Musical Theatre program. While in high school, I was a member of St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church Folk group (Singing) in Brentwood, NY for four years in a row. My choir teacher from high school is the person that I was most influenced by in deciding to become a music teacher. I attended Five Towns College with a partial scholarship, maintaining a 3.4 GPA and participating in community service to retain my scholarship for four years. While in college I performed with the Five Towns College Choir and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble in venues such as, The Metropolitan Center and Carnegie Hall. I earned by Bachelor's degree in Music Education. I now have a Georgia State certification as a music teacher for pre-k through 12th grade. I was an elementary school music teacher for six years and I am currently running my own online music academy. I have over 20 years of experience teaching music lessons privately through other companies, while acquiring my own clients; working with different ages and abilities. The primary instrument I teach is singing. I also teach piano, guitar, drums, and ukulele. I like getting to know the genre/style preference of my students and assess their abilities to then, know how to approach teaching them technique and musical concepts. I enjoy helping them build their repertoire with the songs they like while using method books and choosing certain songs for students to learn from genres such as, classical, jazz, and musical theatre which offer fundamental musical concepts that may provide help to the song(s) they may be currently learning, all the while further increasing their repertoire and knowledge. I find that teaching is a continuous learning process which helps me in my own rehearsal, as well as, my students and I enjoy their reactions when sharing my passion and knowledge with them. I am very passionate about helping my students reach their musical goals and being a part of their overall enrichment. I look forward to taking you on as my next student and learning together. Let's get started!
