Hi, I am a vocalist, ukelele-ist, composer, and California Institute of the Arts’ alumn specializing in jazz, rock, pop, and Broadway vocals as well as musical composition. I teach voice and composition for students of all ages and experience levels at their home or online. Voice students can expect to gain confidence week to week about their ability to perform any song they want to sing; while composition students can expect to find their unique, contemporary voice within the music community. I encourage students to release all their doubts and qualms about how hard it is to learn music and to just express however they feel necessary while at the same time learning contemporary and helpful techniques. As a composer my first piece was premiered when I was in high school by the Pasadena Master Chorale in Pasadena, CA and I studied at California Institute of the Arts (CaLARTS) with regarded composers such as Wolfgang von Schweilintz and Daniel Corral. I specialize in vocal composition as well as electronic composition using the DAWs Ableton Live and Logic Pro X, but have experience writing other classical-type compositions such as my string quartet Wheatfield With Cypresses premiered by Fuoco String Quarter from the Salastina Music Society in Pasadena, CA. As a vocalist, I have sung my whole life in choirs, musical theater, and solo performance and am currently in the Contemporary Vocal Ensemble as an Alto vocal part at CaLARTS. In High School, the choir I sang with toured Italy and we sang at the Sistine Chapel as well as other historical sights. In previous college experience at Pasadena City College, I sang in two jazz ensembles as the lead vocalist in Latin Jazz and Contemporary Jazz stylings. Some of the musical styles I enjoy teaching as well as listening to are r&b, blues, jazz, rock, pop, and classical.
