About Ohashi R.
As an artist and art instructor, I have more than 30 years' experience in New York and Tokyo,
Luckily, I had the chance to have a wide range of ages’ students ( from 3 to 90-year-old! ) and that could make me grow very much as an artist.
My artwork has been published in art books and magazines in both the U.S. and Japan, including New York Art World, Art in America, and Contemporary Artists in Japan. In addition, I taught sculpture at the prestigious Tokyo University of The Arts from 1989 to 1994, where I previously received my master’s degree. Currently, I enjoy having art classes and workshops for children, their teachers, and adults throughout New York City. My latest oil painting solo show was at Blue Gallery on 46th St. Manhattan in 2019. I was one of the representative artists of Benjamin Art Gallery in Lower Manhattan where is closed after the lockdown. I am currently living and working in Bushwick Brooklyn with my wife and three cats.

Mr. Ohashi is a wonderful teacher. He is patient, creative, and always considering each individual student's needs and how best to encourage and inspire them. In addition, he is a very talented artist and makes learning fun. You'd be very fortunate to learn from him!

Mr. Ohashi's classes have been invaluable. I never considered myself to have any great talent in art, but I did have a great interest that, after some failed attempts and false starts, led me to Mr. Ohashi. I couldn't be happier with the teacher I found. With the benefit of Mr. Ohashi's patience, dedication, and sly sense of humor, I've been able to create work I am truly proud of (and which consistently surprises and impresses family and friends) that I wouldn't have thought possible when I first began with him. He is able to impart the fundamental concepts of painting and art-making while still encouraging me to explore a style that is my own. Seeing proof of my own development and increasing skill under Mr. Ohashi's guidance has been incredibly rewarding. I couldn't recommend him more strongly or thank him enough.

I am so glad that I took this class with Mr. Atsushi. He has a friendly and welcoming attitude. In addition to that, he’s very patient. He gave precise and clear instructions which allowed me to feel competent and ultimately confident in my painting skills. I highly recommend Mr. Atsushi if you are seeking for an excellent art teacher!

I've been fortunate to know some rare and phenomenally reputable Artists in my personal circle and Mr. Ohashi ranks as such. It's even rarer to find someone of this skill to also be a gifted instructor to adults and art teacher to children. For my husband's 50th birthday, I approached Mr. Ohashi after deciding to do a special family art project with our two daughters ages 4 and 6. The entire afternoon was flawless. From set up to clean up, each step of our creative process was relaxed and fun. He is also an experienced and gifted children's art teacher and all they could ask when he left was, "When is he coming back to do more projects with us?" We live in such an age where lasting memories are replaced with hurried instant gratification. We had a special dinner for my husband but those paintings we did with our small girls, will remain on our wall for, what I know will be generations. Not only that, we've been complimented how professional it looks and because we did it in the style of Donald Judd, it really pops out. You've no idea how many people have asked about our family collage work of art when we set up my daughter's virtual school sessions against that wall during the COVID shutdown. To have access to art instruction from someone with this level of caliber is fortuitous to say the least. I can't wait to plan another project.

Mr. Ohashi is an excellent teacher! He is incredibly engaging and encouraging with my children. He comes up with the most unique and creative projects that the kids love. He has also begun teaching technique as my daughter gets older. She has taken lessons with him for 4 years and has really improved and become very serious about art. She was even chosen for a citywide art competition which I attribute to his teaching.

Mr. Ohashi is a creative and patient art instructor. His classes are enjoyable and he is intuitive in understanding a student's potential, and how best to communicate technique with consideration to a student's unique style. If I encounter an obstacle, he is able to quickly help me understand and demonstrate with fun examples. He makes art engaging and relaxing, and is knowledgeable about the art community in New York City.
I really love Mr. Ohashi's artistic style and feels fortunate to have attended several of his oil painting shows.

Ohashi's ability to communicate as an instructor is great! His watercolor technique is fantastic, in my opinion. I went to one of his openings in NYC, and it was really impressive. Highly recommend!

Having Mr. Ohasi as an Instructor has been one of the most valuable and enjoyable things I've done in life. It sounds a bit cliche, but in all honesty, I've learned more about myself in the time I've worked with him than I've done in a long while.
He not only helped me understand how to build my skills, but also that its okay to be an individual. At the same time he taught me how art centers around community and helping each other develop into people who can help others. He helped me to put my thoughts/ dreams on canvas and helped me make them real. I truly enjoy his classes!

Mr. Ohashi is an amazing teacher of art. Having studied at one of the most prestigious art schools in Japan, he achieved a high level of technique and philosophy in the basics of creating art. Moreover, his success at teaching children in the US comes from his natural ability to break down complex ideas into easily understandable ones. A kind man and a joy to learn from, I highly recommend Mr. Ohashi if you want to learn any aspect of painting.

He is a great art teacher. I enjoyed every time I took his classes via online. They were great experience and he made me realize that I have more talent as an artist!
