Hello! My name is Nina and I am an Oakland University graduate with a B.A. in Japanese Language and Literature.

I started tutoring Japanese in 2013 at the Oakland University Tutoring Center, when I was a student myself, and have been freelance teaching both online and in-person ever since. It has been an incredibly fun and rewarding experience that I'm looking forward to continuing for many years to come. In addition to teaching, I also work full time at a language training company, where I help translate, interpret and conduct phone calls in Japanese.

Since I started tutoring, I've had students of all ages who often describe me as being friendly, flexible, fun and supportive (and I definitely like to think that's true)! My lessons are always customized to fit my student's needs/goals and I provide plenty of practice and exercises to reinforce topics. My approach is all about structure mixed with fun; I use textbooks/workbooks as a base and supplement lessons with music, movies, books, articles and other media based on my student's interests.

If you would be interested in taking Japanese lessons, please feel free reach out to me anytime and I would be happy to learn about your language goals and how we can get there together. Looking forward to hearing from you! : )

Nina is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She makes learning Japanese fun but also serious. You are bound to learn a lot without realizing it. Each lesson is super fun and you will come away with more knowledge than you could have ever expected to learn on your own. Kamiterru!

Nina was able to convince me learning online can be just as easy as learning in person.

Great teacher, she moves at my pace and adapts to my knowledge. Also a very charming personality, I find myself eager for Monday's.
