I have a doctorate in music theory that I earned from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. While there, I taught a majority of the undergraduate music theory courses. I also have a master's degree in piano performance that I earned at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. I have been teaching private piano lessons off and on since 2005. Beginning fall 2019 I have been teaching piano full-time at various music studios in Gwinnett, Georgia. In addition to piano, I enjoy painting, computer programming, and working on DIY electronic projects. I consider myself a patient and easy-going Individual. Although I want my students to work hard and grow as musicians, I ultimately want them to enjoy the journey and be proud of the accomplishments they achieve. I believe strongly that the skills students cultivate as they learn piano will benefit them throughout their lives.

Great piano teacher with lots of patience! Our boys have taken from Nik and have learned how to become independent at figuring out difficult music concepts in order to become life long piano players. Nik is always so patient and encouraging.

Amazing teacher, teaches music theories and great at understanding your mistakes. If you have a question about anything he would take time to chat with you to explain!

Nik has been teaching my younger brother and I for a while now, and I believe that he is a great teacher to work with. He helped my brother, who had no prior experience at playing piano, learn at a surprisingly rapid pace. Nik is a very patient person but definitely does not waste time. I can also see that he is very passionate in this field and likes to teach us more than just reading and playing. He slips in some music theory here and there and also tries to help us understand music at a deeper level, which is very interesting. He always keeps the mood up at every lesson, and I could see that he would be great with younger kids as well. We are about to try online lessons with him for the first time this week, so we’ll see how that goes.
