I have been an actor for almost 20 years, and have been teaching acting for 7 years. I have a BA in Theatre from Greensboro College. My approach to acting is first and foremost, text based. The script is where the work starts. In working with me week to week we will make sure you get to know the peice your working on inside and out. We'll work together to make sure you know exactly why you're saying what you're saying. We will work on using voice and movement techniques to unlock your voice and release tension and allow you freedom when working with your script. I have taught students of all levels of experience and age groups. I recently ran a 8 week summer drama program for children ages 5-18 in New York. I spent a year in college studying Shakespeare exclusively. I am also trained in the Meisner and Stanislavsky techniques and will teach you how to use the different acting methods to approach roles. As an actor I do shows around the area and teach classes. I have mentored some students in the area who are preparing for college and professional auditions. I spent three years working with the North Carolina Theatre Conference. That knowledge allows me to better mentor the students when picking the right material for their auditions, wether they be the professional or college auditions. There's nothing like watching one of your students succeed in an audition or a role you spent time watching them work so hard on.
