I am a graduate student at Brigham Young University School of Music and also hold a Bachelor's degree in Flute Performance. I have 11 years teaching experience with students of all ages, and 16 years of playing experience. My students regularly hold top positions in their school bands and orchestras. *** Lesson Details *** I believe music lessons should be both exciting and educational. I have high expectations for my students, and we work together in lessons to help you become an excellent musician. Lessons are structured around learning technical studies like scales and arpeggios, etudes or exercise books, and solos. I also believe in helping students develop sight reading skills, so lessons regularly end with a duet that the student sight reads as I play along. In the end my goal is to train you to be a musician who no longer needs a teacher. I would love for my students to go on in the professional music industry, but recognize that many will just want to play in the community orchestra, or a college band, or in a church group. My goal is to give you the skills to be able to have a self perpetuating music experience when you are finished taken lessons. *** Studio Equipment *** Keyboard Piano, Music Stand, Chair, and my large collection of flute music. *** Travel Equipment *** I bring my instrument but expect you to provide the music stand and anything else you might need. *** Specialties *** I specialize in classical flute. I am comfortable teaching any music found in the classical flute repertoire along with technique, tone studies, and pertinent etudes.
