    About Nicolas M.

I started playing piano since I was 9 because I wanted to be a classical music composer, but due to a lack of teachers and other constrains I had to continue on my own. Later my brother introduced me into the guitar world and I started learning songs and theory and practiced every day. I have been playing the guitar for 13 years now. I have been in different bands and projects and joined the jazz ensemble at Seattle central community college as the lead guitar player, we mostly did jazz standard tunes from the "fake book". I also took the class on music performance were I was able to develop live preforming skills. In general I compose my own music and I like to experiment with all kinds of sounds, mostly I play the electric guitar and use effect pedals to model the sounds, although acoustic is were I first lay down my ideas. The lessons are about bringing the students potential and confidence on his natural talent out so that they can work with their inspiration rather than a technical based approach only. There will be theory support given and learning how to compose songs and develop improvisation skills. I believe that music should be approached as an intimate relationship between you and your instrument(s) and as a means to expression of your artistic potential. This I have already tried it with several of my students and has created a shift than enriched their musical path much, much more and gave them confidence and satisfaction. *** Travel Equipment *** the student most have his own guitar and I have mine. *** Specialties *** I specialize in Modern Guitar or progressive guitar playing. I use the method developed by my guitar teacher and it consists on teaching: Harmony, theory, techniques and performance. It gives strong basis to develop a unique and original style of playing. It gives tools to enhance the expression of the players emotions and also enable him to understand the craft behind it.
