About Nicola R.

Hello, everyone! Bonjour, tout le monde!
I'm Nicola, and I've been teaching and tutoring professionally since 2011. I teach two subjects professionally: French, and screenwriting. That's right — I really am both a professional French teacher and a professional filmmaker! I currently have private students in both subjects every day of the week.
I have my bachelor's degree from Columbia University and my master's degree from the Sorbonne-Nouvelle University in France. I lived in France for years and am fully bilingual in English and French. I am always happy to provide references from students who have loved working with me!
I believe having fun and feeling relaxed are key to learning. The more relaxed and open you are, the better you're going to do, whether you're learning to pronounce French R's and U's, or learning to write complex characters and exciting plots!
I have made a webseries, four acclaimed short films, and an indie feature which is currently on the festival circuit! Happy to chat about this more - would love to be in touch with you!

I was writing a screenplay for a animated short film. I was previously taking the course with another teacher on takelessons but, it didn't work out because I found him confusing. Nicola not only helped me with structure but also, we got it done with one lesson! (I did have a story written down before the course) but, she helped me with understanding basic scripting in 1 hour. I recommend her for screenwriting 100%! Thank you so much!

Nicola has an amazing energy that attracted me to her as I wanted to practice speaking French again. She has a gift of hearing what YOU want VS setting an agenda on what SHE wants to do. Her professionalism and ability to be an excellent French teacher is absolutely complimented by her flexibility to teach outside the box. For me…that was critical as I had a specific intent for learning more French and speaking better. She makes you feel very at ease and that opens up the Channels for receptivity and ultimately learning more. We are not cookie cutter people and our individuality needs to take center stage here for opening ourselves up for learning. Nicola surely allows all that to happen while at the same time having fun! I am thrilled to be one of her students even at 65 years old…it’s never to late to learn more! Thanks Nicola
