Teaching since: October 2004

My name is Nick. I have a great passion for music and enjoy many genres and styles. I first picked up a guitar ten years ago and life has never been the same. Whether it's teaching, performing, or recording, I am always around music.

I thoroughly enjoy pushing others toward their musical goals. I can accommodate both strict detailed instruction or more slow-paced laid-back lessons. I choose any method needed to keep my students progressing while they remain confident and motivated.

I have experience in teaching both children and adults. I have also directed several bands and music camps at various music schools in Florida, Colorado, and New York. I currently reside in New York City as a full time music teacher, band director, songwriter and performer.

*** Lesson Details ***
Since every student learns at a different pace, I will create a lesson plan that suits them best by utilizing different exercises to better their technique, teaching them songs of all styles, while supporting it all with basic and advanced music theory.

My goal for students is for them to have an understanding of how to play their instrument in the context of many genres while developing their own style in the process.

*** Studio Equipment ***
-Music stands
-Extra guitars
-Computer with internet access

*** Travel Equipment ***
-Acoustic guitar

*** Specialties ***
I am heavily rooted in blues and rock and roll. I also teach country, folk, pop, and songwriting (beginner vocals).

Nick is a fantastic teacher. I work with him at a school in NYC where he teaches guitar and coaches bands. He's great with kids! Patient and fun and also firm. I learn a lot working with him!

Nick was a thorough instructor who walked me through the songwriting process. He helped me work on my songs and I'm now playing out.

Extremely talented, hard working & dedicated instructor

I was Nick's General Manager for a music school in Denver, CO. Nick was everything we want our instructors to be, and then some. He's extremely hard working and very dedicated to his students. Nick is completely reliable. He was always on time and never missed a lesson. Nick managed to be very professional, but easy going all at the same time. His students and their parents all loved him and were very disappointed when he moved to another state. Nick was always willing to go the extra mile and encouraged his students to never stop growing as musicians. He is an extremely talented musician, and just an all around good person. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a talented, hard working and dedicated music instructor.

Awesome Teacher

Nick is a great teacher. He is extremely knowledgeable about music and guitar but is very easy to understand and has a great way of explaining things. He is very talented and is able to connect with his students. He can teach anything from Reggae to Bluegrass.I feel that I have improved immensely and that he pushes his students to do the best they can. He is an awesome teacher and I wish he wasn't relocating to NYC.

Dependable, Encouraging, and Creative

I worked with Nick for almost 2 years and his level of commitment to his students and his co-workers never wavered. He was always on time and always willing to pick up more lessons last minute if needed. His students adored him and parents thanked him for his commitment. Nick is one of those very special musicians who want to share his passion for music and to hopefully inspire that same level of commitment to its creation that he has. He's great with beginners, intermediate, and advanced players. All around, Nick is an amazing musician, staff member, director, and an all around great guy!

Great teacher

I am a 63 year old retiree just learning the guitar-Fortunately I was "assigned" to Nick by TakeLessons--Nick has a great musical background and despite his pedigree he relates well and doesn't hold your lack of knowledge against you -He has a great command of the instrument and is able to play well in many different styles--he is able to impart his knowledge so that it is understandable --finally he makes you feel comfortable as you struggle through those early lessons--I actually looked forward to practicing what we had gone over during the lesson--My only disappointment in Nick is that he has relocated.

Nick has an Excellent Teaching Style and

My son Wyatt began lessons with Nick around November 2011 and had lessons with Nick for almost 2 years. From the start they formed a bond that really provided inspiration in Wyatt. Nick has that special 'it' factor that you see often in educators. Nick's deep passion for music shines with his ability to transfer knowledge, technics, and love of music to his students. Nick not only teaches
kids notes, chords, and songs but also how to layer the music theory along with it giving the students a well rounded foundation to build upon. In the end Wyatt's fretboard knowledge, music theory, understanding of modes, how to use them, and music history have all grown tremendously under Nicks' direction. Nick has a very enduring personality that kids just love to death. As a parent I had the privilege of watching Nick take a group of very young kids, 6 to 10 years old, form a complete band with them, get them prepared to perform a rock song, and then to perform that song, 'Seven Nation Army' on stage, under the bright lights, in front of an audience of around 200 people.

Priceless..... As you can tell I have nothing but 'Huge Props' for Nick. He became a mentor in our sons music journey that he will never forget.
