    About Nicholas S.

Hello! My name is Nicholas S, and I've been teaching and performing Saxophone professionally for the last 10 years. I have a Bachelors degree in Jazz Studies and Music Performance from the University of North Texas and have performed and recorded in world-class concert venues and recording studios all over the United States; most notably in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, and Boston. As an instructor I have maintained a private lesson studio of about 20-25 students from beginner to advanced; teaching Saxophone Technique and Performance, Music Theory, Ear Training, and Composition. In addition to my private lesson studio I occasionally lecture at Universities; giving clinics on Jazz Saxophone Performance, Music Theory, Composition, and Advanced Modern Jazz Concepts. I teach all levels, beginner to advanced, and tailor lessons to meet the specific short and longterm goals of each student. I have to say, over the last few years my teaching style has evolved as to help each student achieve astounding results in their abilities to play their instruments with ease and pleasure, impressing their peers, parents, and most importantly themselves, All of my students are taught the basics such as harmony, melody, scales, chords, sheet music music notation to lay a strong foundation of musical knowledge that can be applied to learning any song and rising to the occasion of musical situation. The rest of the instruction is tailored to the specific needs of the student whether it be playing their first notes to acing their high school concert band auditions to getting ahead in their intimidating college class to being able to play their favorite song for their friends and families. Here are some ideas of areas of focus I teach my students in private lessons: - Saxophone Technique and Performance - Harmony, Melody, and Rhythm - Reading and interpreting Sheet Music - Music Theory and Ear Training - Chords and Scales - Writing Music and Composition - Learning Jazz Standard Repertoire and How to use The Real Book - Beginner Intermediate and Advanced Jazz Improvisation - How to learn to play your favorite song or solo from a recording or sheet music. If you'd like to inquire further, send me a message and I'd be happy to join you on your journey towards becoming a world class musician! Sincerely Nicholas S. Saxophonist - Composer - Educator
