Hello eager students! My name is Nick and I have been recording and performing in the Toledo area for 12 years. In that time I have put out five studio records including: Strydir Lee, Careless and Free, Acoustics Volume 1, Electric Money Burns, and Phony Cosmic Clues. I have played on a number of local stages here in Toledo and gained a large following on stages in Chicago, Cincinnati and Detroit. I was even lucky enough to perform live on the Mitch Albom radio show! Over the years students and friends have come to me to learn how to play guitar or bass and how to write their own music. So not only will I give you professional lessons but I'll also allow you to record in my studio with me so you can create your own masterpiece! What I can teach is an understanding of music that allows you to create your own and show it to the world.
*** Lesson Details ***
For all you out there who are worried about getting started, come to me! I am a very laid back person who loves sharing his talents with people who really want to learn. We will discuss styles YOU like and the music YOU like and try to focus our time together in what kind of musician YOU want to be. Of course we will learn chords, patterns, notes, scales, key signatures, time and tempos but we will try to adapt them to whatever it is you are trying to accomplish. Throughout the lessons you will be able to record at anytime you desire. This helps in so many ways because students will be able to listen to themselves and hear what they need to work on. They will be able to take CD's of themselves home to play along with and to show their family and friends.
*** Studio Equipment ***
My studio equipment includes: Peavey Bass and Fender amp, Fender Strat, Gibson SG, Crate Half Stack amp, Boss GT, Behringer preamp and effects, Marin acoustic, Fender 12 string acoustic, Harmonica and Harmonica holder, Vegas Pro 8, Waves Mercury, Wurlitzer organ, Ensoniq Keyboard, Roland V Drums, Condenser and Dynamic mics, Korg D 12 Multitrack Recorder, Lambda Interface, Mackie Studio Monitors, Mach Five software, pedals, headphones, chords and all the other necessities.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide: acoustic guitars six string and twelve, electric guitars and amps, bass guitar and amp, and recording gear. I expect the student to have their own instrument.
*** Specialties ***
The style that I specialize in is acoustic guitar and composing. My methods are a little different then most because I would have the student in my studio and we would work out songs together including: chord changes, tempo, measures, time signature, key, and strumming patterns. Then, through recording, I would show them how to layer multiple guitar, bass, drums, piano or vocal parts. Essentially they would be learning not just chords and scales but how instruments work together in a well composed piece of music. They would be able to build songs from the ground up and realize how great their music can be. As a singer, I would help them find their voice and build their confidence by working out melodies and dynamics.

Nick has made the learning environment very relaxed and casual. He is very encouraging and positive about my progress. I enjoy my time there and his teaching of songs I want to learn.

I have my own small studio here in Toledo and I have been doing audio work for many years now. If you are someone that would like to work with different DAW's and other recording software, I would love to work with you.
