    About Nathaniel A.

Hi, my name is Nathaniel Atkins, and I'm here to teach you Ableton Live, music production, sound design and anything else regarding audio. I've been creating and producing music for eight years now, both as a hobby and professionally, and want to teach you what I know and what I've experienced over that time period. I specialize in electronic music, but my course will focus mostly on how audio works, as well as how popular music is made, both from a music perspective and a scientific perspective. We'll talk about what sound is, how it works, how it interacts with itself and other things with acoustics, the differences between digital and analog audio, how frequency works, how music is created from these concepts, and so much more. I can't fit it all in a bio, so if you'd like to ask me anything in particular, feel free to message me! My courses will take place on weekends only unless said otherwise, as it is the only time I am regularly free. My course outline will be posted soon as it is currently still in development. All you need in order to take my class is a copy of at least the Standard version of Ableton Live, and no early of a version than Ableton Live 9. Ableton Live 10 Suite is preferred, as it has many more tools to be used and quality of life improvements over 9, but isn't necessary by any means. I've used Live 9 for the majority of my career until Live 10 came out. Other than that, I may ask you to install certain other programs throughout the course. I'm also open to helping you out with the use of third party plugins and VSTs for Ableton if it is requested. One thing you'll realize if getting into this field is that there are a lot of different external resources you'll be wanting to use, such as sample pack libraries and VST plugins. Serum, for example, is an extremely popular synthesizer which is very common place in almost everyone's VST library. This is just one example and there is a whole world out there of others. I personally may use some of these plugins, some of which cost money, but will find free alternatives for you to use if you do not wish to purchase any extra plugins. The great thing about Live is that there is a lot of tools built in, so most of the time it shouldn't be an issue. For any other questions, please contact me! Thanks!
