A gifted teacher of private lessons, Nate has also gained respect as an instructor at workshops including Camp Bluegrass (Levelland, TX) and Acoustic Music Camp (Dallas, TX). His aptitude and dedication to the fiddle and mandolin have caused mentors, fellow musicians, and the public to take notice. *** Lesson Details *** Professional Profile: Eager to instill a love of music in students of all ages, using a unique combination of sight reading, ear training, and music theory, to create well-rounded musicians. The combination of 11 years teaching experience, and real world experience as a performer and recording artist allows the best frame of reference available for the shaping of a brand new musician into a seasoned player. • Hold Associate of Applied Arts Degree in Commercial Music. • Experienced in private instruction, as well as groups of all sizes. • Dedicated to teaching more than just notes and fancy licks. The goal is a student who can play and communicate with accomplished musicians. Key Qualifications: Eleven years experience teaching children and adults in private lessons and group formats. A custom tailored experience for each student, focusing on their learning style, needs, and abilities, with a focus on quality education, and fun. Each student is instructed as the individual they are, using a wide variety of out of the box teaching aids, motivational tactics, and implementation strategies to engage students in active learning. One of a kind curriculum provides students with the skills needed to read, play, and enjoy the music they love. Tone, timing, sight-reading, improvisation, soloing, and backup are emphasized, with music theory mixed in, to provide a solid understanding of why things are done, as well as how. Students interested in a career in the music business will receive instruction on band skills, band etiquette, gig survival techniques, and performance concepts. Instruction is available in a variety of styles ranging from Bluegrass, to Rock & Roll. *** Travel Equipment *** I will provide all books and class materials for my curriculum. If you would like to learn outside the curriculum, than you must provide books and recordings. You provide your own instrument and related accessories (strings, picks, etc.). *** Specialties *** I teach with standard notation, tablature, and by ear. I specialize in Bluegrass, Country, Americana, Roots Music. I also have taught a variety of other styles ranging from classical to rock.
