I've been teaching private lessons for over a decade now. First I taught lessons as a self-employed college student, and then my during graduate studies I worked through a music academy in Dallas. I've been playing piano for over 20 years and guitar and drums for 15. I've been in various bands, personally recorded several albums of my own compositions, and have taught students from ages 7-17 consistently. I teach part time as a high school teacher in the area and I enjoy helping young people learn, whether it's guitar, piano, drums, or even psychology *** Lesson Details *** I'm very laid back when it comes to lessons, but I do expect students to spend at least 90 minutes weekly practicing so our lessons will be productive. I generally use either Alfred or Suzuki for piano lessons, and various Hal Leonard method books for guitar and drums depending on students needs and expectations for learning. *** Studio Equipment *** Lessons will be in my music room which has a 88-key weighted keyboard, various guitars and amps, and a drumset. *** Travel Equipment *** Students must provide their own equipment necessary to play their instrument. *** Specialties *** I specialize in Suzuki method for piano, and contemporary rock and pop for guitar, drums, and bass. I also teach music theory and songwriting using whatever style the students prefers as the base of operations.

Nate is a great teacher. Both my sons are learning piano with him. I saw good improvement, constructive feedback, and professionalism every time. They both like him very much.

    Experience

    Guitar/Piano/Drum Instructor

    Feb, 2013 - Present

    TakeLessons

For almost two years now I have been teaching lessons through TakeLessons. I currently have 20 students, some of whom are signed up through TakeLessons, some through the high school where I teach, and some through personal contact.

    Electric Guitarist

    Aug, 2011 - Present

    CrossPointe Church Waterford Lakes

I'm in the regular rotation at my church playing electric guitar. I can bring insight from this extended live experience into lessons to help students learn how to play well with other instrumentalists, compose lead lines using basic knowledge of music theory, and how to create certain sounds and effects.

    High School Teacher

    Aug, 2011 - Present

    International Community School

I teach a variety of subjects at a university model high school in Winter Park. This limits my day-time availability on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, but provides more open availability on Mondays and Wednesdays.

    Associate Guitar/Piano Instructor

    Jan, 2008 - May, 2011

    Providence Music Academy

During my time in grad school, I worked for a music academy servicing the Highland and University Park neighborhoods in Dallas. I taught private in-home lessons to about 20-25 students a week for roughly 3 years. I primarily taught guitar lessons, but had several piano students and a few drummers as well. We focused on meeting individual student goals and tailoring the lessons as much as possible to what students wanted to learn to play when it came to songs. These songs were then something the students enjoyed performing at our bi-annual recitals.

    Guitar/Piano Teacher

    Jan, 2001 - Jul, 2003

    Self-Employed

For a couple of years before I left for college, I got my start teaching private lessons at the request of my then piano teacher. I started with piano, but then quickly added beginning guitar and bass.
