    About Natasha V.

As a rising lyric soprano, Natasha Valdes has performed across the United States and Europe. She rapidly became known for her virtuosity as a soloist in sacred and orchestral works. Valdes has shown that artistry in Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Solemn Vespers, in addition to Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel's Messiah, and Faure’s Requiem. As a young soprano, Valdes earned her B.M. in Opera Performance at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, which led to her operatic roles as La Fée in Cendrillon, Olympia in Les contes d’Hoffman, and Despina in Così fan tutte. Valdes furthered her education in Rome while attending a OC Ars Vocalic Academy. She gained an in-depth knowledge of the Italian language, sang in masterclasses for Inés Salazar and Milena Kitic, and performed throughout Italy's cathedrals. One of her greatest achievements was her solo debut at Carnegie Hall after winning first place at the International American Protégé Competition. Natasha has a growing passion for education and music, which led her to pursue her M.M. in Vocal Pedagogy at the Boston Conservatory. Her teaching philosophy is surrounded by functional training of the voice in conjunction with mindfulness. Her in-depth knowledge of the brain translates to her understanding of students learning styles, establishing new habits, and specifically how anxiety/trauma can affect a singer's performance. Natasha still actively performs contemporary gigs along with classical performances throughout Southern California, and is beyond excited to meet you!

    Merry Melody Music Academy

I provide individualized lesson plans for students in voice and piano by establishing the fundamental steps towards healthy and sustainable techniques. Students learn the importance of theory, sight-reading, and musicianship skills to further their advancement as musicians. Lessons are designed to support diverse learning styles and the metacognition of each student. Voice students are actively performing roles within their community theatre programs.

    Graduate Teaching Assistant

    Sep, 2019 - May, 2021

    Boston Conservatory at Berklee

Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Boston, MA — SPRING 2021 Graduate Assistant Course: Teaching Practicum in Applied Voice (Virtual Teaching) I taught voice lessons as a diagnostician through the subsystems of the voice. Students learned healthy vocal habits and development through anatomical body mapping and self-awareness practices along with the physiology of the voice. Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Boston, MA — FALL 2020 Co-lecturer/Graduate Assistant Course: Voice for Non- Majors (Virtual Teaching) I developed a syllabus for a fourteen-week course on voice for non-majors. I created and delivered lectures on vocal pedagogy, vocal health, performance, diction, intro to classical singing, the history of musical theater, and CCM improvisation. Classes had a variety of group instruction, masterclasses, and private lessons. Students performed a piece from each vocal genre, and maintained a journal to further their learning beyond the semester. Students also presented music from their identifying culture to educate and bring awareness to music diversity. All assignments were managed through Google Classroom. Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Boston, MA — SPRING 2020 Graduate Assistant Course: Repertoire for the Teaching Studio (In-person & Virtual Teaching) I assisted in organizing repertoire for various genres in the voice studio. The repertoire was determined by analyzing different voice types and the pedagogical benefits of that repertoire for the student.
