My name is Myung L., and I am a native Korean speaker. I graduated from Ewha Women's University with a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Literature. After a few decades, I realized I wanted a higher education and obtained a master’s degree in TESOL and Linguistics at West Virginia University. I have teaching experience in English, Korean, and Chinese between ages 5 to 15, as well as adults including college students. I worked as the Vice Headmaster in the Korean Language School of State College, PA for two years. I am working for West Virginia Korean Language school as a Vice Principle. And I am teaching children, high school students and adults too. From personal experience as a nonnative speaker, I understand why students have difficulties in learning English or Korean, Also, as a parent, I know how important it is to teach with compassion, I try to be a patient, warm, and passionate motivator for students. I believe the role of a teacher is extremely important for a student’s growth, so, one-to-one classes are engaging, easy to comprehend, and are adjusted based on students’ individual needs. I enjoy teaching and getting to know people from different backgrounds. I can teach English for beginning to intermediate students, and I can teach Korean to students of all levels. I always welcome any suggestions from students and am ready to provide fast responses and helpful resources. While my degree is in linguistics, I am a juried member in the WVWS, and I presented my art in the Tamarack’s “The Best of West Virginia” Juried Exhibition. Language learning is a lifelong learning process and I believe my career as an artist will help teaching language.as an artist will help teaching language.
