Mission Statement:
I seek to teach the language of music; to give students the basic building blocks they need in order to find their own style of expression and harmony in life. When I was growing up practicing piano, I hated how boring it was to practice (I still loathe practicing!). I want to show students how they can break the music down and enjoy the tone of the simplest chord, and find practicing to be more brain engaging.

Missed Lessons:
Learning an instrument requires commitment and responsibility, both from teacher and student. Please let me know at least 24 hours ahead of time if a lesson is to be missed, and we can schedule a make-up lesson.

Student Responsibilities:
Learning is a two-way process. I cannot teach if the student is not willing to listen, learn, and try new things. Practicing MUST be a daily routine (at least 20-30 minutes a day); without practice we cannot move forward.

Parent Responsibilities:
With younger children, I ask that the parent remains present during lessons; this way they may actively listen and aid during practice time at home. Please make sure your child arrives on time, and brings all their books.

Instrument:
Students must have an instrument to practice on during the week between lessons.
It is important to care properly for your piano. Make sure to tune at least twice a year to keep sound at best and instrument in good health; a piano in tune is more enjoyable to listen to, and even more fun to play.

About My Linh M.

Hi there, my name is My Linh (pronounced "Mee-Lin") and I would love to help you get started with the basics of music!

Studying a musical instrument takes dedication and patience. If you put in the hard work and practice, it will pay off!

I try my best to cater to each student's unique needs and learning pace. I will meet you where you are and help you achieve the goals you want to reach.

This past Spring I graduated from California State University Fullerton with my Bachelor's degree in Music. While my main instruments of study are Piano and Pipe Organ, I have also had the pleasure of singing in various Classical and Jazz choirs throughout my education. I have been teaching piano since 2013, and have been accompanying church choirs since 2008.

Great first lesson for both children! My Linh was very personable and attentive to the pace and difficulty level for new students; she challenged them in their learning, yet made it fun at the same time!

My Linh is an exceptional pianist, and an even better teacher. As a jazz pianist, the techniques to classical piano have been obtuse to me, and My Linh has gently guided me to understanding. If you are looking for a fun teacher with great skill to really shape your growth, she has my highest recommendations.

I have had the privilege of both learning from and studying with MyLinh. MyLinh is an exceptional person, as well as teacher. Her gentle personality allows me to feel comfortable learning from her, while her understanding of specific nuance gives me total confidence in her teaching ability. MyLinh is extremely knowledgeable about music and has opened my ears to things that I didn't even hear in my music before. I highly, highly suggest her to anyone looking to learn Classical Piano.
