Styles of Music: Classical, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Blues, Bossa Nova, Music Theory, Composition, Improvisation. Where I Teach: Online Ages Taught: 6-80 Levels Taught: All Levels OVERVIEW: I am a dynamic entrepreneurial musician and aspiring composer for Film/TV, with over 20 year record of achievement and demonstrated success in teaching, composing, arranging, recording and performing. I've attended "The Juilliard School" in NYC from 2005 to 2009 to further my study of composition and orchestration. During this time the Juilliard Orchestra Students performed two of my major works for orchestra at a reading in 2006 and 2009 with great success. I have been working in a music career all my life. I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. Many of my students that I have trained, that have gone on to pursue careers in music have remained life long friends, and I still mentor them in some way. EXPERIENCE: I teach music lessons that generate energy and excitement! After a lifetime of training myself and teaching others, I know what the key elements are to make you sound good in no time, without wasting years on lessons that get you nowhere. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time. It has been a rewarding experience for me as a teacher to see my students grow, and feel good about their accomplishments. I have been training the musicians of the future for over 20+ years, and many have gone on to pursue professional careers in music with success! I SPECIALIZE IN: (PIANO) Pop and Classical, Jazz Piano, Contemporary Piano Styles, Piano Improvisation, (GUITAR) Classical & Electric Guitar (Rock & Blues), Lead Guitar-Improvisation, Electric Bass, Ukulele, Mandolin. (MUSIC THEORY) Modern and Contemporary Harmony, Jazz Harmony, Improvisation, Composition, and Orchestration. METHODS USED For beginner students, I like to use the most popular methods in teaching and introduce popular songs that the student can enjoy learning, to keep the lessons engaging and fun. For more advanced students, I guide my instruction to their interest but also to show them the key elements of becoming a real music professional. I teach the musical tools that you can't find in a book, that come from real world experience, a combination of my academic training and musical street smarts. LESSON STYLE My goal as a teacher and mentor to my students, (with innovative lesson planning), is to effectively teach them in a way as to save years of training to get them to their desired goal. A student (beginner) studying with me for a year often sounds like they have the musical maturity of someone that has been taking 3 or 4 years of lessons. I inspire my students with a positive attitude. Learning becomes fun, and they truly look forward to their lessons every week with a feeling of accomplishment and self confidence. I accept beginner (child/adult) students as well as students that have had training and want to take their ability to the next level. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (TEACHING DURING Covid-19) My studio has been setup for professional video and audio teaching online for several years. I have been teaching online to professional college students in a music degree, attending out of state colleges two years prior to the pandemic to help former students in their continued studies with me. Since the pandemic happen all of my students have moved to online studies with me and have enjoyed their experience and have said they feel no difference in the quality of their lessons. Adult students as well as parents with younger children have enjoyed the fact that it has saved on traveling time, to and from the lesson. Besides the fact of staying safe at home and taking your lesson online, it is also a huge time saver in travel and has proved to be convenient to everyone. Now all of my students are online studying with me and really enjoy the online experience! With the wonderful technology we have today I am now teaching students online internationally! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please feel free to contact me to discuss your goals and available lesson times. Sincerely, Munro - Teacher/Composer, Pianist, Guitarist, Electric Bass, Ukulele, Mandolin, Music Theory/Composition, Improvisation.

Munro is the best ! The best teacher I have ever had. Very knowledgeable about music theory which enables the student to learn improvisation. He simplifies theory making it very easy to understand. He also understands that every student has his/her own learning curve and is never intimidating.

After studying with Munro for 5 years, I can say without a doubt, I would not be at the level I am now without him. From the first lesson, he had me playing a song. Munro is patient, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. I could not recommend Munro enough for future students!

I consider myself extremely lucky to have Munro as my instructor. I am in my 50's and only decided to learn to play piano several years ago. Munro can teach the most advanced techniques, music theory and composition, yet still has the patience for someone like myself, who is a casual learner that just wants to play for enjoyment and doesn't always have much time to practice. He is never frustrated by my slow progress, always supportive, and has a knack for finding music that will challenge but not overwhelm me. And while my competency at playing still has a long way to go, my understanding of music, and appreciation for composition are something I would not have received from most any other instructor. I have no reservations endorsing Munro, regardless of your ambition, skill level or goals.
