Learn vocal techniques, games, and genres with the help of an experienced and accomplished vocalist

Students will learn voice techniques through traditional and unconventional ways from games to vocal exercises. I have a degree in music and will also teach music history. Students will learn from different genres of music to expand their music repertoire. I offer lessons to students who want to be professional singers or singers who just have a passion for singing.

    About Monika J.

My passion for music goes beyond the technical aspect, but rather the personal experience, and the personal connection. Music takes listeners on a journey through its melody. That is what I try to instill in my students. I have a background in opera and gospel singing, as well as a degree in music. I have taught choirs in public school and in church. I am currently the music director of the South Bushwick Reformed Church, leading both the musicians and praise team. I teach both children and adults, of all levels of experience. My goal is to teach students how to maintain and strengthen their voices metaphorically and physically. I want to help singers tap into the natural voice within them. Along with set lesson plans—focusing on pitch, rhythm, and breathing—I tailor each lesson to my student’s needs. Along with technique, I also include basic music theory and music history into my lessons. I believe it is important to have a rounded understanding of the voice, spirit, and culture of music.

I've been with Monika over a year now. I've learned so much from her. She is an awesome teacher. Very patient and caring and is always building her knowledge and passing it on. She makes you feel so comfortable. I've always been afraid of singing in public but with her guidance and confidence building I was able to get up on a stage not once but twice and look forward to the next time. You can't go wrong with Monika as your coach. I would recommend her to anyone.
