Learn piano with ease with expert guidance from a veteran musician and teacher

In piano lessons, you will learn all the basics of music reading and music theory. I like to give people knowledge that they can use and expand on in their own time. You will play a variety of pieces and have the opportunity to choose music that you enjoy! I use the Faber Piano Adventures series as a guidepost for learning. *I teach beginner and early intermediate piano only, as piano is a secondary instrument for me personally. If you want to learn to play for enjoyment, learn basic theory and sightreading, I can absolutely help you! If you are looking to learn competition-level piano, I might not be right for you :)*

***Prospective students, please note: My availability is very limited as I have a full studio of students! Please check my availability calendar before signing up for lessons. Thanks!*** My first priority is instilling a love for the arts into any student I teach. No matter what the skill level is, I want my students to love music and learning. I believe in setting the students up for success while also challenging them to be their best. My experience as a classroom teacher is useful in helping me understand different types of students and cater to their individual needs and learning styles. I have experience teaching both private piano and voice, as well as experience in putting together recitals and stage shows. I have a degree in music from the University of Central Florida, which has allowed me to receive diverse types of musical education as well as hands-on experience in teaching methods. A student of mine will not only learn techniques specific to their instrument, but also a more broad range of music theory and performance knowledge which will apply to any other musical endeavor they may wish to pursue. *** Lesson Details *** I offer a relaxed environment where students will be given new challenges and information without feeling pressured or stressed out. I want to make learning fun while also giving them a firm grasp on the techniques and practices. I use a variety of music books and series such as Piano Adventures, but I also like to find out what type of music the student is interested in playing and cater the curriculum to their needs. After the first set of piano lessons, most of my students will know the basics of reading music/music theory and basic practice techniques. After a few months, they will be able to read and play a piece of music on their own. Depending on the level of skill and hard work, students can progress quickly and they will love showing off their new skills to their friends and families. In voice lessons, students have an opportunity to focus on their personal goals while being guided toward healthy singing habits and optimal tone. Students can work with me to choose their own repertoire, and we use primarily karaoke tracks so that I can focus on the vocals and pinpoint problematic areas. Performance opportunities and recitals are given at least semi-annually, so that students can be given a chance to show off their new skills! Our annual formal recital is also a benefit to raise money for various children's charities. We also have a studio channel where student performances are posted regularly! *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide a keyboard if necessary for the first lesson, but all piano students will be expected to own their own keyboard or piano within the first month of lessons. I buy method books for students and expect reimbursement, but this is a minimal expense. I provide many pieces of sheet music, folders, and additional teaching materials free of charge. *** Specialties *** "Head voice" singing for children, sight reading practices for piano, Broadway singing and performance, opera singing and performance
