Monica is a versatile pianist whose endeavors range from teaching to performing and accompanying. She began an active and serious pedagogical career in 2008 and is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Piano Pedagogy Scholarship from the Music Teachers Association of California San Fernando Valley West Branch. She often partakes in a wide range of performances from private events to public classical concerts and her accompanying ventures have taken her to work with the California State University Northridge Master Chorale, the MiraCosta College Chamber Choir, the MiraCosta College Community Symphony Orchestra, numerous recording projects, and a great number of instrumental and vocal soloists. Chess Scholars collaborates with local private schools to offer after-school enrichment opportunities to students (besides chess, they also offer acting, engineering, guitar, and more). So far, I have taught a 7-week chess program to students at a local Catholic school.+ Read More
In addition to traveling to students' homes and teaching lessons to them, I also occasionally host student recitals and help students find community outreach opportunities (such as performing in retirement homes).
When I worked for McMillan Music School, the teachers of various instruments would get their students together to form "rock bands" and cover songs in rock concert style student recitals that would be held in local venues.
