About Miriam S.
My name is Miriam Snyder, and I am a trombonist of 12 years. I am a recent graduate of the Eastman School of Music, located in Rochester, NY, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Trombone Performance, as well as a Performer's Certificate. I recently began my Master of Music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, in San Francisco, CA.
Over the course of my career, I have played in several honors ensembles at the local and state levels. I have also been the recipient of several awards, including winning third place at the national level of the 2017 MTNA Senior Brass Competition, as well as first place in the 2021 American Trombone Workshop's National Trombone Quartet Competition as a member of the Outer Loop Trombone Quartet, an ensemble based in Rochester, New York.
My future goals include playing in a professional orchestra and teaching at the collegiate level. I am passionate about performing at all scales - as a soloist, in chamber ensembles, and in large-scale ensembles.
I began teaching consistently in August of 2020, but have had pedagogical experience spanning over ten years. My teaching philosophy is to communicate as clearly and effectively as possible in a way that explains trombone in a logical way, but while keeping musicality as a top priority. I am looking for students who are driven, passionate, and willing to learn.
I hope that you find a teacher who meets your musical needs, and I would be honored to be a part of your journey!
