Hello! My name is Miriam-Rose, and I have been teaching violin/fiddle to students of all levels and ages for over six years. I was trained classically in the Suzuki method from a very young age, and also have a significant background in traditional music, specifically Scottish fiddle. During my time at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, I created my own degree with a focus on Scottish music, and also became the third place winner of the 2012 National Scottish Fiddle Championship.

In addition to my background in music, I have a degree in Ballet Performance from the Jacobs School of Music. I have been teaching ballet since 2010, and have taught and danced professionally here in the Chicago area since 2013.

Thanks, and I look forward to working with you!

· Ballet · In studio Very good at explaining concepts in a second, or sometimes third, way so that her student can make an inner connection. I also admire the way she organizes her lessons so we refresh and enhance the previous session and then move on to new technique. Appreciate the professional way she communicates as necessary outside class, too.

· Ballet · In home Miriam arrived right on time, prepared and ready to go. She worked with the space I had, and was very patient. As an adult beginner, learning something new can be intimidating, but she made the lesson very enjoyable. I'm looking forward to next week!

· Violin · In studio Our family cannot speak highly enough of Miriam-Rose and her talent and teaching ability. She is still, by far, our 10-year-old daughter's favorite IU student violin teacher. Miriam-Rose has such a gift for being an incredibly patient and supportive teacher, yet she is firm and affective in her corrections. Our daughter learned so much in just the short time she was instructed by her. She is such a caring, friendly and fun person with lots of energy, and you can tell she loves what she does by the way she teaches. She will be a blessing to any student she instructs. We have two other daughters that also know her from the ballet world and she is known there as well for her talent, teaching and friendliness, which I think speaks volumes for the individual that she is. She is just an all-around wonderful and talented person who also happens to be a very gifted teacher. Students of any age will learn so much from her! We so appreciate what she has done for our family!!

· Suzuki Method · In home We were lucky to have Miriam-Rose teach our 9 year old over a few summers, while she was home from college. Miriam-Rose was a wonderful teacher for our daughter. Patient and very supportive of our daughter's needs, Miriam-Rose really guided her lesson and practice to help her improve.

· Violin · Miriam-Rose is one of the best teachers I know. I am also an experienced teacher and have studied violin pedagogy with professors at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and at the Jacobs' School of Music at Indiana University, and I can highly recommend Miriam-Rose as someone who's teaching methods and approach are on par with the standards of these prestigious institutions. Her experience with kids and her Scottish Fiddling make learning with her lots of fun. Great instructor, you can't go wrong!
