Music is my life and air. I started playing the drums when I was 12 years old. I played in every band and music ensemble I could throughout junior high, high school, and college. I have played in bands outside of school with music styles ranging from Rock, Punk, Hardcore, Metal, and Hip Hop. Since 2008, I have been teaching private drum set lessons and marching percussion to students of all ages and backgrounds, including Special Needs. Recently, I attended the University of Texas at Arlington where I furthered my education in music teaching, music theory, performance, and percussion. I am also an experienced Djembe and Didgeridoo performer. Teaching and encouraging others in music comes naturally to me, and my degree in Music Business supports knowing how to prepare lessons and curriculum so students succeed. *** Lesson Details *** I love what I do and want my students to be excited not only to take lessons with me, but excited to go home and practice to further their skills as well. My lessons are focused and adaptable to the needs of each student. I have a wide range of teaching materials, equipment, and a personal library of method books for students to view and use. I do expect and encourage my students to practice at least 5 minutes a day. You will be amazed at how effective this is and how 5 minutes usually turns into 30 minutes of solid enjoyable practice. *** Studio Equipment *** DW drumset, single and double pedal, practice pads, Vic Firth Bell Kit, Boom Whackers, hand drums, and a personal library of method books. *** Travel Equipment *** Sticks, books, DW practice pad drum set, snare practice pads, music stand, and a laptop for references of appropriate drum videos/music. *** Specialties *** Rock, Punk, Hardcore, Metal, and Hip Hop. Also skilled in marching percussion, mallet percussion, and hand drumming.

My 11 year old son absolutely loves taking lessons from Mike. I really respect the fact that Mike actually talks with my son and listens to what he has to say. It was obvious during the first lesson that Mike was extremely knowledgeable, organized and cared for his students. Above all else, my son enjoys his lessons and actually looks forward to learning more from him. With so many options out there, we are lucky to have found Mike.... Cliff -
