My name is Mike T. I'm a professional musician of 15 years. I started playing piano at the age of 8. I studied classical, rock, pop, ragtime, blues, and impressionistic styles. At the age of 11, I got my first drum set and started playing in bands. At age 17, I started touring the country. By the time I reached the age of 21, I was a well established, multi-instrumentalist. I attended Musician's Institute in Hollywood, CA where I honed my skills as a drummer, pianist, and overall musician. I can now play all styles of drumming, such as, Rock, Metal, Latin, Jazz, Reggae, Funk, etc. I also studied Harmony & Theory, Ear Training, Technique, Sight Reading, and Performance. I graduated in the spring of 2010 with an AA in performing arts. *** Lesson Details *** I've been teaching for 7 years. Each one of my students receives a custom lesson plan based on their skill level and musical goals. I teach students how to play songs they desire as well as basic progressions and song structure. I also teach the importance of time keeping, technique, reading, and performance. **Piano** I use all sorts of curriculum in my piano lessons. I use beginner books, to advanced classical pieces. I teach the importance of good technique, reading skills, rhythm, and improvisation. If there is a song you want to learn, I can teach you how to play it properly. My goal for my piano students is to make them knowledgeable, skilled, and well-rounded piano players. **Drums** I teach basic grooves to complex rudiments and fills. I stress the importance of rhythm, groove, tone, technique, and reading charts in all of my lessons. You can pick out songs that you want to learn and ill show you how to play them correctly. Drums are difficult for any person to pick up, but I make the process a whole lot easier, by catering to each student, and pushing them to play their best. Practice makes perfect in the art of drumming. My main goal as a teacher is to intrigue my students with the art of music. I keep my lessons fun, interesting, and informative. So if you're looking for a great teacher with a commitment to his students, and a passion for shaping musical minds, look no further. I'm the teacher for you! *** Studio Equipment *** drum set and keyboard at home *** Travel Equipment *** I provide a drumset or keyboard if necessary
