A professional musician and music instructor for over 30 years, Mike has established himself as not only a world class player but also an excellent teacher of all ages and skill levels. He teaches for several area conservatories and hosts master classes on composition, performance, guitar and bass improvisation. Mike now offers lessons in his professional home studio. *** Lesson Details *** Mike's approach is to use the student's own musical tastes to develop an appreciation for the instrument. If you like rock, you learn by playing rock. If you like jazz, you learn by playing jazz. Mike's approach makes it painless to learn to read, train your ear and develop monster chops quickly. *** Studio Equipment *** 1) Recording studio - 1200 square feet - all instruments and seating for parents 2) Private teaching room w/ all instruments and seating for parents *** Specialties *** For the last few years I've had good results teaching theory as part of a greater performance focus. I've taught Hal Leonard and Suzuki Method in the past, but find this more enjoyable and rewarding for the students.

Just what I thought a ukelele instructor to be-I learned a lot and it was fun! He also directed me to a you tube video of the Ukelele Orchestra in Great Britain-pretty amazing stuff!

The fact that Mike went to Juilliard for teaching should entice one to give him a try. However his ability to keep a student engaged, while having fun was the reason that I decided to make Mike my long-term teacher. I learned more in one hour than I had in many years.

I very much enjoy the time I share and learn with Mike. He has been very patient with my slow learning curve. I have noticed that he caters to a person's strengths, which works for me since I have been slowly learning technique and muscle coordination in respect to playing the violin. I highly recommend anyone at any age to call upon Mike for instrumental instruction. To TakeLessons, thank you for offering a system that lets people connect with highly competent instructors.
